I've been thinking about buying a really nice 2001 Cougar, but it is a manual.

I've driven countless ATV's, Gators, and other heavy equipment that is manual, is learning how to drive a manual car that much different?

I don't know. I have never driven a manual automobile other than a car. I have a Manual 4 wheel drive truck and DAMN that thing is fun. I personally Love manuals more than automatics. So I would say go for it.

Only ever driven a stick-shift. Couldn't even think about driving a manual, so boring and repetitive... no sense of speed..

Yes, my first three vehicles were all manual.  Plus growing up on a ranch with farm equipment, you learn very quickly how to drive vehicles with manual gear shifts

I don't know if every driving school teaches manual. I've never driven a stick (not even in Drivers Ed), but I know how to in video games. :P

Yes, i have only driven stick. I will never buy an automatic if i don't have to.  Manual is much better because a manual car is cheaper then an automatic car, manual gets better gas miliage, and manual is tons more fun to drive.

All I know is that the petal to the far left is completely useless, unless you intend to crash; Completely ignore said petal if you want to live!

When you hear a loud grinding sound when you change gears (which you should only use the 3rd through 5th gear, the first two just slow you down) it means that the car is starting to adjust to your movements. All cars are half cyborg, so they can sense and meld to your driving.

every clutch is different, i have only owned trucks with manuals but i cant exactly say anything about tractors but i do have a 4 weeler that is a 5 speed and it is quite different.  by the way manual is very easy and whoever cant do it just shouldnt be allowed to drive.

yeah i can so tell you have never driven manual, because you would know that ''the pedal to the far left'' is the clutch and you need it to stop, take off, and shifting, you cant do any of those three things without using it.

Indeed, especially going up a hilly street where traffic may exist.

It's not that different than automatic. I first seriously learned manual before automatic. It's pretty simple, really.

Manual is all I will drive. I hate driving automatics, they are slow, unfun, and you cant control the speed as you would want to. Except for when I get my ford F250 to haul around my Skiboat, I would never buy an automatic. The only automatic that I like driving right now is our Chevy Suburban for hauling around out Ski-Boat.

I've never actually driven a Stick Shift before (Unless you count videogames ;)). They are rare though, and luckily I have never been in a situation where I had to know how to drive one.

What kind of car do you own? You can swap...but it depends on how much effort you want to put into it to be able to drive straight stick.

I learned how to drive on a stick shift. Originally, I was going to get the car that drove my mom to the hospital to birth me. luckily, we found a good deal on another car, that is sadly an automatic.
