Can you feel it? Can you feel our community shrinking?

Thanks to the Gerstmann gate, many users have either left Gamespot for another site like IGN or 1UP. Many also cancelled their subscriptions and vowed never to come again.

Does anyone notice a decrease in the number of Gamespot users/readers? Gerstmanngate are hot. Whenever Gamespot posts an article about it, the article's comment section will swarmed with pretty much the same message.

So can you feel the mass exodus of users to other sites? Can you feel our community shrinking?

the site's not hardcore - lost it's cred, gamefaqs is the same - both are sell-outs, it's the time to move on I guess - I don't like fueling a site like this

Some users swarmed the reviews section and rated abysmal games with a perfect 10 and gave them [sarcastic] reviews ! See the community ratings for Big Rig:

Also, the Kane and Lynch page is a really popular page! Many users are rating it as 1.0 abysmal.

I agree that it is really ironic. If you want a site to just disappear, don't give it any activity.

I think it's because no one noticed it. I would speculate that the Kane and Lynch-Jeff scandal spread due to Penny-Arcade's comic. Once everyone saw the comic, everyone learned about the firing, and here we are discussing our shrinking Gamespot community.

Um, I joined 1UP, but it wouldnt' let me post, I guess it doesn't work on dial up because it just kept loading and loading and loading, but I couldn't type, and everytime there was a freaking ADVERTISEMENT in the type box!!!

Ads in the internet are really unavoidable.

This verifies that the only real reviewer you can trust is yourself. Only until you have tried the game can you formally make a judgment.

Because Nintendo didn't threaten to take away hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising for an honest review. If they did, it was hush-hush or was over looked.

I don't know about you guys, but learning to not believe the things I read on on the Internet isn't exactly news to me. That particular filter has been up and running for a while now.

As to the shrinking community - let 'em go. They'll be hard pressed to find a better community, I've checked. And if they move on and never come back, so be it. Someone else will take their place and the rest of us will be just fine.

No, Penny Arcade has a huge fan base, and when they say something, millions of people hear it. It's been speculated that if PA had not posted anything about Jeff's termination than not nearly as many people would have found out about it. Or at the very least, not all at once.

This forum has been shrinking for a long, long time now. Seriously. Every day at least 100,000 forumites complain about the moderations and how they are going to leave.DeeJayInphinity

It kinda makes you wonder how many really left and how many stayed.

If users stay just for the forums, that still generates ad revenue for Gamespot.

It does seem smaller now... not as many people seem to be posting as they use to... that or its because everyones studying for finals.L8erSquare
