i have a friend that says I'm a casual gamer just because I lkie sport and racing games, but i play them alot.....does this mean that I'm a hardcore gamer or a casual.....i want to prove him wrong

Hmm...I dunno...to me you have the qualities of one...but I don't like labels. Broaden your horizons. I personally like anything except for sports games.

If you only play sports and racing then yes, you're most likely a casual gamer unless you play them to an ungodly extent. Playing games often does not make you hardcore. Having a broad knowledge of games and playing a variety of types would make you far more hardcore than merely "playing a lot".

55+ hours in Japanese, then 15 hours on a new game, then 20 more hours in a another game, 30 hours in the USA version and going to spend 60+ next week when the game comes out here.

Yeah, those exact same "hardcore" gamers die shortly after that, its already happened twice here in Malmö... the police even consider it "suicide"

I know you didn't ask me, but...

I'm 52 hours into it. I'm LP grinding right now. I bought it the day it came out, but still haven't beat it :( It just doesn't have that grip on me that all the other FF games had on me. But don't get me wrong. I love it.

I just entered Giruvegan, I think. (At the save crystal right after you open the gate by summoning Belias, I teleported to LP grind), and that's where I am story-wise.

That's a neat part of the game. You're nearly done. I think I was at Giruvegan at with the same amount of time, and the story part of the game took me 70 hours or so.

This topic is quite vague IMO, and yeh usually people say that sports game are for casuals. Lets just say have you own opinion on what games you like, and if you want to play them, then go ahead, and don't care what other people say.

I'm 52 hours into it. I'm LP grinding right now. I bought the day it came out, but still haven't beat it :( It just doesn't have that grip on me that all the other FF games had on me. But don't get me wrong. I love it.

I just entered Giruvegan, I think. (At the save crystal right after you open the gate by summoning Belias, I teleported to LP gring), and that's where I am story-wise.

That's a neat part of the game. You're nearly done. I think I was at Giruvegan at with the same amount of time, and the story part of the game took me 70 hours or so.

Sweet. I plan to do everything before going into the final boss.

And I skimmed through your list of unfinished games :lol: You're just like me, but I think I have way more to finish :P But my heart nearly stopped when you said you hated FFX! :o

Why? And what's your order of favorite FF games? Top 5, if you will. Mine are:

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy V Advance, and Final Fantasy X. They're real close, though, favorites wise. I love all the FF games equally :P Even X-2, which I found my self enjoying very much. I'm a sucker for the jobs system :P

I don't know. Something about Final Fantasy X, I just don't like.

I rank them in this order:

  1. Final Fantasy IV
  2. Final Fantasy XII
  3. Final Fantasy III
  4. Final Fantasy IX
  5. Final Fantasy VI Advance
  6. Final Fantasy V Advance
  7. Final Fantasy VII
  8. Final Fantasy VIII
  9. Final Fantasy I and II equally
  10. Final Fantasy X

A very respectable list. Kinda depressing to not see FFT in there, though.

Ah, I see. Man, I love that game to death! :D If and when you come to love FFT, you may be a little disappointed going into FFTA, because it let me down BIG time. It was a low blow to the crotch for fans of the original...they did away with everything I loved about the original! :cry: The mature, dark theme, the intricate plot...man :( And the music sucked, too :cry: Not to mention the inclusion of "laws."

Yeah, those exact same "hardcore" gamers die shortly after that, its already happened twice here in Malmö... the police even consider it "suicide"

If you only play sports and racing then yes, you're most likely a casual gamer unless you play them to an ungodly extent. Playing games often does not make you hardcore. Having a broad knowledge of games and playing a variety of types would make you far more hardcore than merely "playing a lot".
