I heard once that the Canadian Army has the bests Marksmen in the world. Does anyone knows something about it?

The longest sniper shot was made by a Newfoundlander (Canadian) to my knowledge and according to wikipedia. So I guess we have at least some of the best marksmen in the world.
i always thought that the germans had some of the best marksmen, but with todays scopes anyone can be good
anyone can be good? If you've played COD4 and gotten to a certain point in it you'd realize that you can look through the scope to find your target but you also have to adjust for wind speed. In Iraq a couple years ago a Canadian sniper managed to pick off a guy from a few kilometers away by shootign over his head and adjusting for wind speed.i always thought that the germans had some of the best marksmen, but with todays scopes anyone can be good

Well, I don't think we could have much proof behind that, considering Canada not fighting wars a lot n all.

I fail to see how that would contribute to being a good marksman. There are more uses for a gun than just killing people.
Anyways, the longest shot-on-target ever made was by a Canadian, and we do have a lot of hunters here. Thanks to the conservatives, our military buget is up, so I wouldn't doubt it if Canada had some of the best shooters.
The world record kill shot made by Cpl. Furlong is an anomaly. The .50 cal rifle he was using in Afghanistan has a max effective range of a little over 2,000 metres in normal circumstances. Thing is, the area of Afghanistan in which is was fighting was 3,000 metres above sea level. The air pressure is much lower there than at sea level. As a result, there's much less air resistance so bullets will travel farther and with a flatter trajectory, thereby making it easier to make long range shots such as the one he made.
As for Canuck snipers and the (now closed) sniper school, here's a CBC news clip highlighting the aforementioned sniper.
I heard they have a really good navy.
