I have a crack on the front car windshield. It is about a little more than a foot long. I was told it probably could not be repaired but would have to be replaced.

The person I talked to from the car insurance company said they would help pay if my insurance has comprehensive coverage (which it seems I do). For the comprehensive coverage, it says "Actual Cash Value Less Deductible". There is also a "Deductible" column which says "100" and a "Premium" column which says "$80".

Can somebody please tell me what all that means, especially the "Deductible" column and the "Premium" column? For example, if it costs $300 dollars to replace the windshield, do I pay $100 from the "Deductible" column and the insurance pays the remaining $200?

Also, is it better to have the car insurance company pick a car repair place or should I pick it myself? Does the car insurance pay for labor, or just the car windshield?

Thanks in advance.

If you have a deductible of $100, you have to pay the the first $100 of the cost of the repair and they will cover the rest. I can't tell you what they mean by Premium though. Get several estimates, especially from those that specialize in auto glass replacement as they will have the necessary tools on hand to fix your vehicle right then and they may also have the glass in stock so as to not have to have it sent in from elsewhere. Yes, labor is included in what the insurance company will pay.
