My friend got all upset when i told her sometimes i have a beer after work. She said it was unhealthy and all this other stuff.... And i was all like Nowai!

Anyway, is it at all normal to have A beer after a crappy day? I dunno, maybe twice a week? I dont think of getting drunk, just to drink 1 beer to relax (Though as im a lightweight 1 beer gets me a little tipsy.. i recover eventually!). Either that or a mug of Dr Pepper and Ameretto. Mmmm.

That doesn't seem bad. Now if you drank in excess a few nights a week, that would be a problem. However, just having 1 beer after work 1 or 2 days a week isn't bad.

I used to have a couple of beers whilst I relaxed on the internet on a friday night. I don't drink casually much anymore, maybe the odd one when we record the podcast. There's nothing wrong with it though. You have a problem when it's more than once every day and in the mornings!

All evidence points to a beer being healthy. It has vitamins and the small bit of alcohol is good for your heart and brain. Remember, though, that the benefits decline sharply with more than two beers consumed in a day, but there is NOTHING wrong with having a beer.

Yeah. Most things can be seen as addiction when you wake up and it's one of the first things you do. :P

In fact, fore more in-depth info, read this, this, and this. Also, who talks about the negative effects of soda? Why does even responsible alcohol consumption get all the bad press? A beer is healthier than drinking a soda, for many reasons.

No, it's not bad at all.

About a year ago I went to a counselor to see if I was an alcoholic due to the frequency and amount I consumed. He assured me, after a brief psychological test, that I was not. But compared to you I am a raging alky.

Having a cold one after a long day at work seems like it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Tell her she needs to relax.

Sounds relatively harmless. I know i have a drink (usually vodka and something) after a bad day or work or school.

nothing wrong with drinking, and even getting your feet stanky from time to time. Actually having a glass of wine a day is healthy for you...just don't go all Ted Kennedy with your alcohol consumption

I dont see a problem with having a beer after work, just as long as if your not getting yourself drunk every other day.

It's normal here in Denmark to have an after-work-beer with your pals on Fridays, maybe actually get a little drunk. Especially carpenters and the likes do that. I personally can't see anything wrong in having a beer after a bad day, hell I'd do it myself if I had a job and drank beer :P

Dr. Pepper and Armeretto? sounds like you can start up a car engine with that concoction. what's the name of that drink, lava?

anyway, she is prolly worrying about you turning into a lush. i dont think a beer after a crappy day at work is bad.... aslong as you are not one of those types that get all hostile when drinking.

Yah i dont think its a problem myself, but i think she meant it was unhealthy in the sense that... its like the first step to becoming an alcoholic or something. She thinks its mentally unhealthy... not really physically.

Having one beer twice a week isn't bad. Good that you can drink casually.

I don't like the taste of beer, but usually during weekends I may put some rum to my coffee. I'm a light-weight too, so that's why only at weekends :D

I definitely binge. I don't want to make alcohol a staple of my diet. Once in a while, a blowout is much healthier psychologically than using alcohol as a crutch for the drudgery of day to day life.

I see nothing wrong with that. It's perfectly normal to unwind with a drink or two at the end of the day. As long as it isn't excessive, then I see no fault in it.

Can drinhking Pernod really prevent you from sticking to trees? Only ask cause I'm heading into Borneo in April, and don't want to find myself in an uncomfortable situation.
