I wonder if this will affect anything here at gamespot

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24643793/

Quote from the article:

"CBS said the deal will boost its online presence and allow it to tap the rapidly expanding market for online advertising. CNet's Web sites include News.com, TV.com, Mp3.com, MySimon and GameSpot.

The acquisition, expected to close in the third quarter, would make CBS one of the 10 most popular Internet companies in the U.S., with 54 million unique visitors a month and approximately 200 million uses worldwide, the New York company said.

CBS said it will combine CNet's sites with its own online properties, including CBS.com, CBSSports.com and CBSNews.com."

yeah, but if they combine properties and absorb cnet sites into cbs sites, it could mean operational changes

That's what I'm trying to discern from the article, it's pretty vague though is it suggests it will be abosrbed by cbs satellite sites but who knows

That won't affect us. They're not buying CNet to shut down it's sites.

I wonder if this will sever the tie between GameSpot and GameFAQ's. I surely hope so because the shared boards are garbage.

As stated in the other thread, CBS actually bought stock at a 44% overpay in order to spike a rally (and thus earn a profit on their loss). This is happening, as shares are already up 43%.

This means that technically, CBS has already made about .25 billion back from the original deal.Pretty good.

1.75 billion isn't that little for website you know. youtube, myspace and facebook just happened to have the most visitors but most sites won't fetch what they can.
