Who else is interested in this? Will probably watch the switch on live tommrtow.

"

On Wednesday, engineers will attempt to circulate a beam of particles around the 27km-long underground tunnel which houses the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

The £5bn machine is designed to smash particles together with cataclysmic force, revealing signs of new physics in the wreckage.

This will re-create conditions in the Universe moments after the Big Bang."

Snippet from BBC article.

Honestly, I think doing something that could develop a black hole in space would be a little safer.

They are powering it up tomorrow, but they don't start smashing protons together until October(23rd?). And it will be much longer until we get some real results, if we get any at all.

Well, I drew up a will before I remembered no one would be around to inherit. So now I'm leaving everything to god.

Which reminds me, you can donate your idle CPU time to LHC @ Home if anyone is interested.
