I was watching a bit of tarzan the animated disney movie and it was great. I then compared my favorite cartoon movies and this is what I came up with.

1) Aladdin

2)Lion king

3)Land before time (siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick movie)

4) Shrek

5) Hercules

I really think the movies these days suck for kids than when I was growing up. I am nineteen now and I feel bad for the younger kids. I mean have you seen shrek 3 lol the whole CG thing is worn out. I think they should go back to 2D movies (I guess that's what you'd call it :P)

anyone got favs? or disagree?

Well, Disney is making a new animated film which uses traditional animation. It's due to be released next year, I believe. But I do miss traditional 2d animated films.

Tarzan is a fantastic movie. I hate Phil Collins, but his song is amazing. CG movies can be good. Ratatouille was fantastic.

if you really think that cg (rather than bad writing) is what makes shrek suck, then you've lost your movie cedibility.

The fact that Shrek is on your list ought to suggest that CG movies can be good (toy story comes to mind). I agree that 2-d movies were better but that's most likely because I'm being nostalgic, although it's a pretty tough job to beat the lion king.

I think you're more concerned about how the movies are in terms of story rather than the animation style itself because for me, it doesn't matter if a movie is in 2-D or 3-D -- all a movie has to be is good.

I think his point is that since the advent of 3D, we're just getting one vendor trash film after another.
Back in the days of 2D, the time, effort and money was far greater and so they put more effort in to making them spectacular. Just look at the early 3D films, Toy Story and Shrek have been mentioned. Masterpieces. But now 3D is becoming too easy so people are just going to produce whatever they can vomit on to the script.

The more I watch that, the less I like it. Every time, more of it's flaws are revealed
- Shallow character development
- Recycled use of Cloud suffering depression, feels that he's not strong enough (recycled from the game)
- Weak plot which ultimately leads to the mandatory fight between Cloud and Sephiroth which 'cures' Cloud
- 1 minute cameos from returning characters (see shallow character development)
- Majority of screentime involves exaggerated fight sequences

The movie just reeks of fanservice. It could have been done so much better.

Some of the newer movies coming out makes me feel bad too for little kids having to watch this. Just like how the cartoons are now are nothing compared to the cartoons i grew up with.
