Children of Bodom is sick

I just got a bunch of metal CDs (In Flames, Trivium, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, The Acacia Strain, etc) and most of them are good, but CoB is probably the best I have listened to. I listened to Are You Dead Yet? and bought Blooddrunk (haven't listened to it yet). Any recommendations on other bands? In Flames is pretty good too.

I prefer the older stuff, stopped after Hate crew deathroll.

If you like older In Flames stuff look at Insomnium and Dark Tranquility

Born of Osiris is a great progressive death metal band if you want to try them out (they only have 1 cd).

O, and when you say you got a Trivium CD you are talking about Ascendancy.......... right?

Not all of those are metal, but thats a good enough start. Try out some Slayer or Carcass next.

i love children of bodom. i saw them live when gigantour came to my town. EPIC.

anyways, check out most of the bands already mentioned above. esp. Arch Enemy and Scar Symmetry. and if you like In Flames, check out Blood Stain Child. to me, they're like the Japanese copy of them. i also find Into Eternity rather decent. But only with Stu Block on vocals. and check out Hypocrisy too!

pre AYDY? Bodom=awesome after=not so much, not a fan of the other bands you listed (In Flames older stuff is not bad)

i'll recommend Wintersun, Ensiferum, Dark Tranquillity, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Insomnium, and Kalmah

in flames is the only actual metal band you mentioned. but the new stuff they make isnt metal, its more like emo if anything.

necrotroph, lykathea aflame, DEATH, Dark Tranquillity, Emperor. I cant think of anymore for some reason

They're highly overrated! Alexi has run out of ideas, I hate his happy happy joy joy leads and vocals. They're entertaining live performers though.

You should check out Codeon www.codeonband.com That's the way COB should be heading imo.

Well if you like In Flames then you must check out their brother band Soilwork.

Also, another random and great melo-death band is Nightrage. Thing is their first and third cd sound very different but are both great. I don't care for their 2nd album though...

It's not great thrash but any thrash is better than metalcore... IMO *runs out of thread*

Seeing Children of Bodom in 2 weeks!!!! at sydney Australia, then the next day i am off to America for a holiday and getting my signature alexi laiho 600 esp guitar!!!

no, deathcore and progressive death metal are very different. Compare Born of Osiris to Opeth, you'll see what I mean.

Not all of those are metal, but thats a good enough start. Try out some Slayer or Carcass next.

I love Children of Bodom. If you don't have it already, pick up Hatebreeder or Follow the Reaper. Best albums in my opinion. Actually just get every cd, there all amazing. And if your looking for more bands like them just go to metalstorm.ee and look up bands from Finland, trust me they all have the same sound as COB.

In Flames are amazing too, pick up The Jester Race if you dont already have it. A band similar to In Flames would be Dark Tranquillity, they are one of my favorite bands at the moment too.

I can't really reccomend you any death metal(not the biggest fan) but listen to Kreator, Testament(Low, Demonic, and the Gathering are very deathy, the rest are mostly thrash) Exodus (Fabulous Disaster and Shovel Headed Kill Machine) and Pantera. Can't go wrong with Pantera.

i really like that death/thrash metal hybrid, i dont know of many bands that are both, but Warbringer is another awesome one
