I just got back from church, and i am Christian and this is a question for other Christians, do any of you guys actually like Christian Rock? i like traditional Christian songs, but the Christian rock?....lemme give you an example of what was playing today

"You showed us mercy, You showed us grace" (x10) and then it went on to some stuff that didnt rhyme. and the lyrics for most Christian rock songs never seem to be heart felt or creative or poetic and its rare if they all rhyme or make total sense. And the drums are crashing and the guitar and keyboard are played so loud and it seems they put more emphasis on composing the song than they did writing it. i prefer traditional Christian music (you know the kind they play in Baptist churches a lot) i think it is more real and heart-felt.

I hate it. Its fake music.

I feel like its all composed to sound like an aggressive form of sunday worship just to appeal to today's teenager generation. Kind of like christian rap.

Both are pathetic.... some stupid christian soccer moms were sitting around, wanted christian music to appeal to their little snuggle-buggums, so they listened to creed and nickelback and etc and tried to copy that style, while throwing in some bible verses.

Its disgusting.....I cringe when I hear that mess....

thats how i feel. i want it to appeal to my religious side. this sounds like a bunch of douches who make music that they think is a good idea, but really they need to make music for God not for teens.

The lyrics are fairly mind numbing, the music is really... blah. The only exception that comes to mind are Jon Foremans EPs - the lyrics are so honest and he's not afraid to express doubts and criticisms about his faith and he doesn't think that just because he's a religous person that's all he can write about.. He's the only modern artist who's managed so write something that I can relate to on a religous level.

There seems to be something very special about the love between God and man that produces especially sucky rock music. Maybe there are great rock musicians who are also christians, but christian rock feels like a very sanitised and passionless genre from what I've heard of it. Then again, I rarely like songs that are more about the message than the music.

Being an agnostic, I haven't been to mass very much, but isn't mass supposed to be a sombre and respectful occasion? I seriously doubt that playing really poor rock music is a great way to pay respect to a divine power.

Christian Rock sucks. Everything about it is super generic, The music is just cookie cutter music, the lyrics are unimaginative and the actual musicians are boring as hell.

If We're the flagship of peace and prosperity

We're taking on water and about to **** sink

No one seems to notice, No one even blinks

The crew left the passengers to die under the sea

COUNTDOWN, to the very end,

Equality, an invitation that we wont extend

READY AIM, pull the trigger now,

In time you'll firmly secure your place in hell

State of the union address,

reads war torn country still a mess

the words: power, death, and distorted truth

are read between the lines of the red, white, and blue

COUNTDOWN, to the very end,

Equality, an invitation that we wont extend

READY AIM, pull the trigger now,

its TIME you firmly secure your place in hell

your place in hell your place in hell

GUILTY, is what our graves will read,

no year, no family, we did nothing (NOTHING)

to stop the murder of, of people, just like us♪

no its not only cool if its anti. but the hardcore feeling was cool. i am not into hardcore punk whaterver. at all. but 4 some reason i sorta liked that. i guess pro-gov't could be cool, but its hard to imagine. i mean, pro-anything is usually kind of awkward in music. pro-school, pro-manners pro-sharing pro-government would be something like those in my imagination

Any musician or group that classifies their music based on ideology rather than musical genre or style is going to prioritize the message first and the music second. That's why all labelled "Christian" music is so terrible.

Of course, I don't mean to single out any one religion here, but "Christian" genres seem to be the most prominent, at least here in the States.

I think Anberlin is a christian band, and I love their album Cities.
