A year is not long at all. We JUST did this. The rituals become so repetitive after the first fourteen cycles. How about once every three years?

Mostly terrible, terrible music. Did not know or forgot that Queen made a Christmas song. One of their worst ever.

Whenever I pick or pack dozens of gift cards at the warehouse, I think, this person really hates Christmas and can't admit it. "Here's your gift card. Buy yourself whatever you want with it and leave me alone. I can't figure out what you all want anymore."

Giving randomly seems nicer. It's not their birthday or Christmas, but you still want to give. Oh, can't do that because you'd have to outdo yourself for their approaching B-day or Christmas.

I really enjoy Christmas myself. Like the decorations, music, and atmosphere in general. It’s not really music I’d go out and buy but I do find it nice to listen to in stores or hanging out with friends and family.

The only thing dislike about Christmas is the adverts.

the phony "it's so magical!" ones and the aftershave ones spammed every 25 seconds.

These days mostly stream, so not much of a problem.

Don't celebrate it if you don't like it. Most people do, however.

I'm more of a Halloween guy myself, but I still enjoy Christmas. I buy Christmas gifts throughout the year, and generally have everything bought by the end of October, and wrapped at the beginning of November, so the holiday rush never applies to me. Procrastinating is the death of achievement.

Eh. I just do the very minimal of social interactions, like gift baskets and all that. But come Christmas and New Year's Day, I just quietly stay home.

Bollocks to all that. Not for me.

@Archangel3371: Doesn't seem in the spirit of the thread

@pcgamerlaszlo: Same. There is stuff on sale all year and when I see something I think my kids will like I pick it up and save it for a birthday or Christmas or some other occasion.

I enjoy the holidays, but I do not enjoy forced cheer.

Also, ever since we got little kids in the family (my niece and nephew, specifically), it's a lot of fun to get them presents and see them enjoy stuff.

I don't see why you would "hate" on Christmas unless you're just kind of trying to be edgy or contrarian. At the very least it is paid time off for a lot of us, which is just fine by me.

On this, we can agree.

I prefer constant, small acts of generosity. For me, I tend to cook a lot and I like to share what I make with people. I always try to chip in and do other things, too.

@girlusocrazy: It’s about hate for Christmas. I don’t really have any. Some do, some don’t. Just posting my feelings on the topic. Not a big deal. 🤷‍♂️

@mrbojangles25: Yeah hating Christmas seems difficult but I can understand hating things like big crowds of testy shoppers which make people avoid things like in person shopping on black friday too.

Christmas is not too big a deal in my country, so nothing to be annoyed about really. Some people practice the nativity fast, including some of my coworkers, eating vegan burgers n shit while smelling my doner kebabs or chili con carne. Oh how fun it is to talk about my recipes! Ok I'll admit it I'm a little hooked on Christmas music myself.

I dislike christmas too. Would be nice if it was only the focus of 2 weeks or so instead of an entire month. Maybe that way my Bike wouldnt be smashed, because I had no place to park due to the lack of parkign space for bicycles.

My parents still like to celebrate christmas with us, so we come over to them during the holidays. But as nice as it is to spend time with the family, I really dont want christmas presents. One time they gifted me a plasma TV. So they threw out my CRT TV, to make room for that, and given that I only used my TV to play Wii games, which look better on an CRT. So they burnt thousands to essentially replace something I had with a worse product and my eyesight also got significantly worse shortly after getting it.

Yeah, forced gift giving and receiving sucks. Would rather not give or receive anything, but then I'd just not give anyone anything while others would give me stuff, which would suck even more. At least I tell people to not get me anything expensive, so I usually just get socks, underpants and tea, lol. I hate most of the songs that plays everywhere 2000 times a day. I hate how it all for some reason starts in November. I hate all the ads trying to make everyone spend. Hate the stress that comes with all that.

But I do like coming together with friends and family and have a good time. I like the cosyness of christmas with the food and the decorations.

Nope.. Christmas is awesome. All the crowded stores, bad/cold weather, and crazy drivers suck, but that's all part of the experience. Nothing beats the feeling, being near family, the lights, food, music, games, movies, laughter, and memories. Some people hate on it, but probably don't have the same traditions. I was raised with a big beautiful tree and a warm environment, and I've done my very best to carry on that tradition for my wife and kids.

I just got back from visiting my parents Iast week for Christmas and walking into their cabin in the woods is seriously like walking into a Christmas Hallmark movie... I'll probably never go that far, but I have been looking at outdoor lights by Govee, and I plan on decorating outside for the first time next year.

We are still in the midst of a pretty major add on/renovation where we are turning our two car attached garage into a master bedroom and a workshop for the business I plan on making and after months of just myself and my father in law working my wife and I are finally living in the bedroom side and it's incredible. My boys now have their own rooms and we plan on letting them set them up and pick paint colors and the whole 9 yards. Adding an extra 500 sq. ft. of living space has already been a game changer and we all love it, including our cats.

Due to that we are having to cut back majorly for one Christmas, but what better gift can you get than new rooms, customizing, and turning the house into a smart home? Pretty cool.

A lot of things in life suck, but from Thanksgiving to New Years is always busy, happy, and a bit chaotic around my house. We have two birthdays, our 19th wedding anniversary, a work party, family parties, the list goes on and on during this time... a lot for sure, but its also nice to know you have great friends and family, and ultimately, although it can be a bit much means the world to me when I see my wife and kids smile from ear to ear and realize we might not have everything but we have a lot more than most, and to be thankful for all that we have. It really puts things into perspective when you take a step back and look at things through a different lens and realize it might not be all for you, but that was never the point in the first place.

Merry Christmas Gamespot and System Wars! I can be a bit of a Grinch at times, but my intentions are always good. Stay safe, warm, and smile. The world is a crazy place these days, but that doesn't mean you don't owe it to yourself and your family to let your guard down once in a while and just have fun.

There really is something about being part of the shit, especially when you can distance yourself from it. I don't know, maybe it's sort of like experiencing schadenfreude but also being part of the displeasure that makes it guilt free?

Like, I'm driving to see my family on Tuesday after work. I know there's going to be traffic. A lot of people would be pissed about an hour drive taking maybe two hours. But I'm not. Why? Because, I don't know, maybe it's just a chance for me to listen to some music while I go to hang out with my family for a few days?

I don't know, if I have no where to really be right away, the whole busy-busy hustle of the holidays doesn't really phase me. I just sort of bask in it. If I see someone losing their cool in a crowded store, I kind of chuckle and think "damn, sucks to be you". Likewise, if I see some kids shopping for their family and enjoying the act of giving, that's really great as well. It's just all part of the experience.

It's the same tradition. Evergreens brought inside and decorated as a promise of the green to come as the indomitable Sun starts its climb back into the sky.

Since we're having a whine, I hate modern reinteratptions of Charles Dickens, specifically the BBC, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

And by that not talking about "woke" shit, "oh no black person, if watch these he's tried to turn them into Guy Richie Lock, Stock stuff alteration the stories in grim edgy boy stuff to the point it completely bastardizes the originals and just plain ain't enjoyable to watch.

Not against alternate takes, Scrooged, Blackadder are great reinventions. But these are comparatively awful with alot of money being thrown around, TV license money to be exact, for shit.

Meanwhile can just watch this on Youtube and learn the true spirit of Christmas.

Christmas has been commercialized to a point, it's all about buying stuff. Nowadays, most people forget what the true meaning of Christmas is all about.

Queen was a wonderful group. You want to talk about going from one end of the spectrum to the next. Their mainstream tunes were great but they also had many that went under the radar that were as good.

I like the original idea of Christmas. To be with family, friends, and those you hold most dear. Or to celebrate the birth of Christ for those who are religious.

I do dislike all the commercialization, and the buy buy buy mentality that has emerged.

I'm also kind of sick of the exact same company Christmas parties where I see the same people, and eat the exact same food as last year, while listening to the same speech. I could have gone skiing with the kids instead.

That's what I though before terrorist took over our Christmas party. It was okay, there was an off-duty cop who intervened. Really did a mess on the building, tho.

I've reduced the ritual to just meeting up with family for dinner. I only gift people something if I feel I know someone well enough to know exactly what they need that they don't have, but beyond that I'm not going to stress it.

Hard to tell these days. My muddled, aging Boomer brain you know.

I really dislike it when certain individuals get offended when people say Happy Holidays. As if a ton of other festivities don't exist during the same time period.

I have this taken care of, because I ONLY say "Happy Holidays". I have a script, it goes like this:

X: Why don't you say Merry Christmas?

Me: Why don't you say Happy Hanuka?

X: Because I'm not Jewish.

Me: I'm not Christian. /walks away
