They're all designed just to make you spend money under false pretenses, while you get poorer and the corporations you're giving your money to get richer. And they hypnotize and brainwash you into doing it many times a year. And for what? So you can do it all over again next year? It makes no sense at all.

Valentine's Day: Why not show your appreciation for the one you're with all throughout the year? Why only one day of the year?

Why not show how much you love and appreciate your parents all year round instead of just on one designated day?

And we should show thanx for the good things in our life everyday not just one special time designated by the media where we eat turkey and gather with family members.

And of course the ever popular christmas holiday. All it brings about (for most anyways) is the false pretense of being nice under the guise that "its that time of the year" and then when its over we all go back to our normal grouchy "scrooge-like" selves. Only to do it and be fake all over again at the end of next year. Thats why I don't celebrate any of the holidays. I live my life and love my family friends and show it in the way I want when I feel I should or need to. And not let those many cooperations brainwash me into doing all of these "only once a year" while lining their pockets and bank accounts.

What are your thoughts on this?

One thing I agree on is...government should not tell us when is the right time to buy something. However, it is not required to buy anything at all for xmas or whatever. People who buy it is for the sake of tradition and a lot of people like and respect their tradition.

Who cares. It makes me happy. I love the Christmas specials on TV.

At the moment, though I am away from my family, so no family time.

My mom and I used to make brownies and pizza, this day.

And we don't really do the whole gift thing anyways.

Well all this exists because people, no matter how much you want them to, will never be doing the same every single day of their lives becauseey want some kind of change. I love my family and friends every single day of the year and give thanks to God for everything that i have every single day, but those days like christmas and thanksgiving are special and they try to bring you together more than ever. i dont think you will give roses or chocolates every day of the year to your fiance or you probably wont sit down with your family every day of the year and give thanks or give presents and recieve them.

I agree with you 100%, why is it that to show you love someone you must go out and get someone a HDTV or a expensive gift? That's how most of the world thinks nowdays when it comes to someone's bday or Christmas or Valentine day. Christmas is a big joke. . .

I think its too commercialized everyones GOTTA have this and GOTTA get that and its all an excuse to just be an all out consumerist idiot. Christmas is about giving to the less fortunate. The people who NEED clothes and have NEEDS not WANTS. You dont NEED an Xbox 360 and all its whiz bangs. You NEED Food and Shelter. Thats why i volunteer my Christmas at a Homeless Shelter and look for the Homeless to help. Screw your gifts. They're nice and i appreciate them, but i dont care about them.

Let's just get rid of holidays. And birthdays.

In fact, lets just find more stuff to complain about, and be bitter, even though they don't have to involve us. You can celebrate Christmas everyday for all I care.

And I agree with you %110 KrunkMastaX. All Christmas is about now is the presents people give you. Which is f***ing stupid. Well it's kinda fun trying to wonder what presents you will get. But it's mostly all a scam.

It's the endless cycle of mass consumerism that makes the world go round and makesme very sad that I work in retail...

Once you've dealt with a never ending line of customers foreight straight hours...you never want to go through it again.
