Chronicles of Riddick hate

Why do cricits love Pitch Black but hate Chronicles of Riddick? I am a huge Riddick fan and PB although a great movie seems cheesy compared to COR. I have read so many negitive reviews regarding COF but every time I watch it Im like what the heck are they talking about? Everyone who I know think not only is COF an epic and awesome flick but it is probably Vin Diesel's best performance.

CoR was way more entertaining for me. Couldn't hold my interest through Pitch Black. I really like CoR, despite it being quite ridiculous. Kind of similar as to why I like the Resident Evil movies. They are pretty terrible movies, but they are still entertaining, so I like them.

The theatrical version was butchered. The Director's Cut is much better.

I didn't think the theatrical version was necessarily butchered, though yes, the director's cut was indeed leagues better.

And I'll agree with the OP, this is yet another movie that I honestly just don't see why it recieves the hate that it does.

Vin Diesel played Dungeon and Dragons mang. There is no way in hell I can hate him : P

See this is where I have to disagree. I am a fan of both movies and I think Pitch Black is a good movie, but I think Chronicles is great. I think that some people are a little overwhelmed with Chronicles. In Pitch Black all you really know is that Riddick is a convict and a killer but thats it. It Chronicles it just throws so much at you about Riddick and about the Riddick universe where I can see that some people might be a little overwhelmed. I don't understand how people can say Chronicles is cheesy. Great special effects that hold up well by todays standard (the movie was made in 2004), and as for the acting goes there were some solid performances and people can talk trash about Vin Diesel all they want but I think he did a fine job in Chronicles and not to mention it was a great story with lots of great action. I've heard Chronicles be called Lord of The Rings crossed with Star Wars. The Unrated version is the way to go though, seeing Riddick with a PG13 rating just doesnt seem to fit.

And Im sure all of you have heard about the new Riddick movie coming out I believe its called Dead Man Stalking. Seems pretty cool.

Well if youre a vin diesel fan in all fairness you shouldnt be watching me...you should be at home...coloring. No some of these vin diesel fans are getting pretty good. (and just to edit in my thoughts, I found both movies to be ok, I didn't particularly love or hate either of them)

No clue, I thought CoR was awesome.

Movies are always different than the book. The book had a better story line.

I suggest you read it, the movie doesn't do the book justice and I agree on your comments.
