Chronocide?

I thought I'd come up with this word to describe how I view my use of time, (bit cocky in hindsight) but naturally I didn't. It's a band, and doesn't mean what I had thought. I also remember thinking I'd invented several swear words when I was a kid, but now even that seems unlikely. So I put it to you OT: How hard is it to be original? Ever thought you'd come up with something only to find someone beat you to it?

Just proving my case: I invented Meat Boy. People just don't know it, and Team Meat copyrighted it before the world acknowledged my creation.
