This kind of gets at the fact that there are certain words whose technical definition is not in concert with their popular usage, much like "fruit", which is what lead a court to declare tomatoes a while back to be vegetables for the purposes of trade laws.

Technically? Yes, in that they are animals and are employed by a circus, but not in the popular usage of the word "circus animal".

I guess what your trying to say is that Clowns are animals under alot of BAD makeup.

Clowns are people. Mimes are animals.
