I don't think we will need 2.... just body parts I think most guys would like a 10incher...

Not right if you ask me. Life and death is a natural cycle. Trying to intervene with the very manner in which life works isn't a good idea, if you ask me.Ninja-Hippoi'd like you to elaborate on that. If you mean using cloning in medical science is wrong, then what other limits should we set to preserve the cycle of life and and death? stop practicing cpr? if you mean cloning people to eliminate death, then that's pretty much impossible

i agree god made us for some reasona and if poeple try to clone others it willl jsut mess up everyhting its diffrent for people who dont beleive in god
I could see it useful for military or scientist purposes. But clones should have the right of free will too. And a way of knowing which one is which.WushuFighterclones would have free will no matter what. while being perfect genetic copies of the original, genetic differences would during the fetal stages and the clone would evolve a different personality due to this and influences from society during upbringing. A clone would not think he was John Smith of Albuquerque just beause he's a genetic copy of him. i should also add that a clone would be like any other child, merely being genetically identical to the donor. We wouldn't be churning out massive armies in cloning vats. :p

Not in that sense. I'm talking about those cartoons where the clone is forced to do homework and chores because the original is too lazy. Things like that wouldn't be ethical but clones can't just form in an instant anyways.

same
I don't have anything against it. I don't think we will be making full human clones, but I think cloning organs and such would be great.bededog
Forget that. Let's clone hot chicks. That way, all of us internet nerds can have hot girlfriends. Wouldn't that make the world a better place?

lol, thats would take all the fun out of it. make it too easy. I like it when Girl plays hard to get.

In what sense would cloning be beneficial or necessary?
[QUOTE="linkin_guy109"] good idea, but it could be so easily abused (making a life and killing him for organs) Stoufzilla
I don't think they'd clone for organs, it's a lot easier and cheaper (imagining the costs of cloning if thats possible!) to use pig organs which have a high success rate for transplant. With the ever advancement of science we can further utilise cadaver organs (from the deceased) and even transplant beating hearts. As a scientist it's an incredibly interesting topic but I can't actually think of any reason *for* cloning of the top of my head which wouldn't have anything to do with the military or something like that. There's enough people in the world to be honest, part of me wonders if we should sort out the problems with the people already here rather than putting more people on the planet, but that's the extent of my philosophical side.
I don't think cloning would be very good for our species though, sexual reproduction is essential as it allows for genetic variation, some worms in Chernobyl have fascinatingly made the jump from unisexual reproduction to reproducting by syngenesis in order to increase their chances of survival, through genetic variation.
i actually got that idea off of a movie i had seen...cant remember which one it wasnt half bad (a society of people live with chosen occupations and randomly get picked to go to "paradise" it turns out "paradise" is an operating table for there organs so that the people they were cloned from can live on)

some people think its "playing god" and all i have to say is god's doing a crappy job he should retire and let people take over his job

How is it going to mess up life? God would still ultimately have full control of the new life, it would be just like having twins. You're acting as if we are going to create a loophole in this dimension and injecting life from a super dimension that god cannot control into a human from this dimension and we will end up with a supernatural higher-than-god creature. Your god is everywhere and controls everything, remember? So how is cloning going to diminish that control?[QUOTE="DivergeUnify"] How is it sick? linkin_guy109

I agree with your first statement. I think people need to stop getting to uptight about it, because it conflicts with their religion. It can be done done. Just because it's not from God doesn't make it demon stuffNot right if you ask me. Life and death is a natural cycle. Hehe, clone armies. I think it goes further than just cloning, however. Eventually you'll get to choose which traits you want your baby to be born with. Taller than average, stronger than average, smarter than average, better looking than most, etc. Maybe that's what we should be discussing. Should scientists continue to research the technology that will allow them to create a "better" human race.RobertoeyIt's basically going to be technological artificial selection
Cloning has good potential, but like many great scientific breakthroughs, I'm sure some government will find malicious and greedy ends for its means.
