Ok, so I finally watch this movie and I'm excited because I've heard many good things about it. Movie sucked, and sucked hardcore. Main monster wasn't even in the movie for five minutes. But anyways, to the main question. I remember reading what people had to say about it when it was in theaters, and I could swear that after the couple dies at the end, there is something else that happens afterwards. Is this true, or am I dreaming because after the couple died then the movie ended and nothing after credits.

I'm pretty sure something happens but I watched it on my friends laptop in about 5 minutes so I didn't really get most of what was going on.

I think I already found the answer. I did what I should have before making a thread and did a search forums topics. I guess after they die and on the ferris wheel you see something fall from the sky in the water. So, another disappointment. Man this movie sucked balls.

I reviewed it in my blog, and it all I can say is it was a huge disappointment. They moved away from a realistic monster movie and instead took the route of the cliche save the dam in distress starring characters with an IQ of 50. Any part with the monster and the military was good, everything else suxed. I'm hoping for a sequel all in a military perspective, maybe like a news team following a group of soldiers during the battle. As for the end, yeah when they are on the Ferris wheel, they show the ocean and a object falls from the sky. Its hard to see, but its there. J.J. Abrams has said its a satellite that fell to earth and the recovery of it is what awoke the monster.

I agree with that. But the crappy part is the damn thing was rarely in the movie. If I knew I'd be watching the back of some people for 80 minutes I would have passed.

Oh well.

Edit: Thanks for the info.

The movie was about people in a crisis and what they were going through. Not about the monster, kinda like if you had a video camera when 9/11 happened at ground zero.

Yes the characters were not the greatest choice as they were dumb 21 year olds. But overall the movie wasn't to bad for me.

I hated that the movie was so short and that it didn't seem to have a real ending.

I haven't seen it on DVD but when I was watching it in the theater I thought to myself "If you really want to experience this movie you need to see it in the theater".

I liked it..

I'm sorry, but I loved this film. The camera work was fun to watch and the whole movie was very intresting. The monsters were well detailed and it was fun to watch with a group.

Something does happen at the end.
During the last scene, back at Cony Island.. they show the water for a while. Just before they move the camera back to their faces.. you'll see something hitting the water on the right side of the screen. What it is.. I don't know.
Just finished watching it, and I have to agree, the ending wasn't that great.

Considering it was a government case file, I figure they would have left explanations and what not at the end, or random info that went along with the video.

Plus, they obviously would have cut anything that didn't involve the event...so all those beginning scenes are obviously just establishing info for the audience

why was the movie so hated? i just got my friends dvd right now and it was fun.sure....it had a really slow start but i enjoyed it.i was sad at the fate of that emo chic. "we have a bite".i really liked her .that scene was really sick though.i never saw it coming.

all the parts that involved the monster were awesome. but i do have one complaint though.when they showed the closeup of the monster at the end.......it looked almost completly different from other parts of the movie.first of all they showed it perfectly alright(no damage or anything)....it looked all wet and clean....in the pervious scene it was covered in white dust and was being bombed.....and it looked a litlle differnt too.what were all those strange things hanging around its waist? extra arms? and the head of the monster also looked wierd and different from other parts of the movie.there was only 1 right?

yes TC your right about the end.somthing does fall in the water in coni island(i dont live in the states....pardon my spelling).

though im happy the movie wasnt cheap. atleast they showed the monster(wouldve liked more scenes though) unlike the blair witch project.that movie didnt show anything.!!

I thought the movie was excellent; if you expected to see a monster movie, you just watched the wrong movie.

I thought it was really good. The beginning was a tad slow and the ending was very abrupt, but overall I thought it was really well done. I just watched those "secret" bits in the ending and I'm not surprised no-one saw it. Even in slo-mo and zoomed in it took me a few attempts to see it.

At the very end of the credits some scrambled voice plays and if you record it and play it backwards then it says "It's Still Alive". It's crazy and I don't think any other movie has done this before.

i really enjoyed it and have the dvd, if you were expecting a godzilla like movie then your wrong, its not really about the monster but the people trying to survive...and so what if they diddnt show it enough? the same idea with the origanal Alien and jaws, the less you see the better

but yeah at the end you can see the satilight that awakens the monster

The movie wasnt bad, but I have to say that a lot of the characters were borderline idiotic. And the worst guy was the guy holding the camera throughout the whole movie. OMFG...i just wanted to jump into the screen and bludgen him to death a baseball bat...such an anooying guy. Anyways, overall it was a decent movie, nothing special. If you wanna see a good movie, although its an indie so dont expect great special effects, watch Sidekick. That movie is great. I luv indies because they actually have to be GOOD. They cant rely on media hyping, big name actors and special effects to sell their work.

it was supposed to be a realistic movie. Anyone who saw any trailer, who saw anything to do with the film expected a monster flick, they didn't expect a cliche save the dame in distress movie. Yeah maybe they didn't expect to see the monster the entire way through, but they didn't expect, like me, the stupid typical plot. ve said it before, anything that focused on the monster and the military was great, 9/10....anything with the plot, like some of the most illogical things in any movie in a movie I expected to be more realistic then most horror movies, and its a 7/10.

I thought it was good. And the monster wasnt the main focus of the movie even though it was a monster movie. The movie is more about The situation cause by the monster and the character drama that resulted. If you want a monster movie watch the US version of Godzilla. The only part I hated was how it ended. Like oh, it jumps up at the chopper, big surprise. Whats wrong with main characters living? I mean you spend two hours of you life following them for nothing.

That thing is minute though. Even on zoomed in slo-mo footage I had to have someone point it out to me before I saw it.

that's actually true, although he sounds stupid, he was the only one with enough sense to not want to be involved with some of the very idiot and illogical things done in the film.

I thought it was great. The movie wasn't about the monster, it was about the main characters and their plight during the disaster. That's like saying Bladerunner sucked because it didn't have enough action, it's totally missing the point of the movie. Plus I thought the comic moments from Hud (camera guy) were well suited. Overall it was great.

I liked it quite a bit. It was original and fairly well done. Plus, I knew exactly what I was going to see when I went to see it. I knew it was more about the survivors than anything else, and I think that's why I liked it more than most people.

if yeah want a movie that shows humans struggling with disaster watch The Mist, this movie on the other hand is just another film in which the characters do extremely dumb things.

Godzilla type monster movies are only goo dif you actually get to see the Monster tear **** up. Cloverfield was a decent concept but no one cares about the puny humans it's all about the monsters and the military trying to kill them. I was let down by the film.
