I find this interesting because I've never loved coffee or anything, but I've always avoided energy drinks because:

1. I feel like I consume too much sugar as it is.

2. I don't like the idea of drinking some manufactured concoction every morning.

I didn't bother reading the link. But I'm not surprised with the rise of popularity of all the energy drinks.

Coffee is a good pick-me-up, what's worse is a drink like Four Loko.

Not a surprise. Most kids prefer energy drinks. They'll go coffee when they get older.

I've never really enjoyed it but it definitely grew on me, I think it's safe to call it an aquired taste. Even still, I always need to add some cream or it's pretty harsh.

I guess the American obsession with coffee is like the British obsession with tea. I drink neither. I drink the occasional energy drink though, but not like people seem to drink coffee/tea as an essential part of their day.

Unsweetened tea is just as bitter...as tea is better with sugar, lemon, and ice, so coffee is with cream and sugar.

Hate coffee - Too many runs to the toilet. Energy drinks I can deal with, but I retry to avoid them too. I'll just stick to natural energy thank you very much.

I disagree as I don't mind unsweetened tea. It is bitter but not near compared to how bitter unsweetened coffee can be. Perhaps though it is the variety of coffee I have tasted as I am sure thats a factor

Your personal opinion of course. I would take tea over coffee everytime especially green tea or perhaps some hot jasmine tea

I don't do a daily coffee. After a while it becomes like smoking cigarettes -- all it does is bring you back to normal and if you don't drink it you get a headache. I enjoy it, but I only drink it when I need to get up real early (pre-6AM), or I'm working late.

I hate coffee. I used to think it was because of the lower quality of cheaper products but I changed my mind after an 8 euro espresso labeled in a known shop as the "some of the highest quality possible" in Austria.

I used to drink coffee and energy drinks all the time. I've since learned to deal with my sleepiness by you know like getting more sleep or taking a nap. In my mind there's no reason to spend money on nasty **** to put in my body.

That's why flavored coffees are so successful.:)

Flavored coffees are definitely alot more tolerable to my palate compared to just straight coffee. I kinda killed coffee for me around 10 years ago as I was drinking a Starbucks Coffee of the Day everyday for around a year and a half straight. After that I can barely even stomach the stuff anymore. I wasted so much money on that nasty swill

I try to avoid coffee/energy drinks cause they can cause you to become dependent. Most people who don't like it say it tastes bad. I much rather tea personally. Oddly enough on every college campus Ive been on I see people drinking coffee all the time, at all hours of the day.

However I have noticed more people around the age 16-18 have started smoking cigarettes alot, so this may not be a good thing.

I don't drink either, but I did try getting into coffee early on, some time in high school. I just don't believe the need some people have for an energy drink, I've only seen a couple people at work drink them, I don't know anybody else that cares for or craves an energy drink...ever.
