Completely messed up...

So I was playing some Rainbow Six Vegas 2 online, getting headshots like I normally do, when my 20 year old brother walks down stairs and asks to play. I tell him no and he gets all worked up about it. He throws the headset across the room, stating that I can't use stuff that he bought (although I bought that headset using my money and bestbuy discount) and so I drop the F-bomb on him. He cries to our parents (not literally but you know what I mean) and they do the following:

-Grounded from video games until further notice

-Drivers license taken (I am 17)

All for saying one word that my parents have used countless times....

Anyone agree that this is messed up?

Throwing the headset was immature, but I think the brother handled things correctly. If your brother bought something then you have no right to deny him usage, especially as his little brother. And personally if my little brother ever cussed toward me. I would kick his *** til' he apologized, you should have a certain amount of respect toward your older siblings.

It isn't messed up. You're living under your parents roof and unfortunately they have their set of rules. Have you ever heard of sharing? You could have just told him let me play for an extra 30 minutes or something. Plus you AND your brother are both very immature and need to grow up.

Your money, your possessions. I think that's perfectly fine if you want to continue playing the game by yourself. Nothing wrong with a little "me" time. Your brother seems a bit childish. I also find it a bit harsh to lose driving privileges and video games for dropping the F-bomb. Especially at your age. I'm 22 and say it all the time to my parents, in normal conversations. Though I don't go around like a sailor, usually it's just to express the point.

I would say kudos for the computer thing. Yet that may cause more problems. If I were you, I'd make the point that you worked hard for your things and should be able to use them to your heart's delight, and have the right to pick and choose who may and may not use them.

Then again, there's nothing wrong with sharing. But I'm sure from time to time you allow your brother to play games just as the family uses your PC.
