Over a week ago, somehow my computer became infected with a rogue program called "BestsellerAntiVirus." I didn't download anything, so I'm not sure how I got it.

Anyway, it sends a lot of pop-ups through my IE browser. It hasn't affected my Mozilla browser at all (Mozilla rocks!). I also get error messages with "Critical warnings" and there are two "On-line security" icons on my desktop that reappear after I delete them. Anyhoo, last Monday, I thought that I may have beat this problem. I downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware, and it detected "Trojan.WinFixer" and Adware/Malware. I did the scan once, then rebooted into Safe Mode and did the scan a second time. After that, I restarted normally and the pop-ups stopped and my IE browser appeared to not be hi-jacked... at least temporarily. I've noticed over the last week that the problem comes back about every 24 hours (if my computer is on). So, do you think that my IE browser's IP address is on a spam list that sends out these pop ups from the rogue software at a set time?

I don't use IE anymore, though I haven't gotten rid of it because it looks like it will be difficult to completely uninstall.

I need some expert advice from you computer pros. I would appreciate a fairly thorough response. I REALLY want to git rid of this problem permanently! Thanks.

Nope, they help ALL their users. They give priority support to their Pro users, but the most you'll have to wait is like an extra 24 hours. :)

Okay, thanks.

Have you tried "HiJack This!"? I think that you record computer logs and post it on a site for computer experts to analyze so that you can get instruction on how to specifically get rid of the computer problems.

Hijackthis is a great app althoughit only takes a small snapshot of your computer. It will have trouble removing nastier infections but I think in your case, it should work well with an expert's help.

Yeah, apparently my problems aren't uncommon because I've done some Google research.

Is HiJack This! difficult to use? How exactly does it work? I'm not a computer expert.

All you do is press scan (no installation required) and it'll show a list active processes and some parts of the registry. Beside these items, you can check off the ones you want deleted.

Oh, here's another free program you can try... it specializes in removing fake security programs and scans extremely fast.
