IAT seems easier, but CMPT has more money innit...

wat do you guys think and recommend?

Depends on your career goals... you can make good money at both but IAT is a lot more competitive, and you should know your talent level before you get into that.

Just as another idea... have you thought of going into IT security? IT Security is THE degree to have these days, and you dont have to do all the programming and Calcyou take in Comp Science. Also, IT Security pays some serious money.

Exactly. If you're not a great artist I wouldn't go down that road.

Considering they're not similar in the slightest i don't see how it's a hard decision. Also you seem to be missing all the subjects in between like software engineering, digital art, games design ect. First just pick if you want to animate and create models or you want to solve math problems and write code.

And all of those things you listed are artistic work. Game design is worthless as an official qualification so you may as well forget that, people don't design games because they have a degree in it they design them because they're team manager at a games company.

This seems to me like it would entirely depend on what you want to do; I'm not sure how we can recommend one or the other based on... well, nothing. :P

As you said in your previous sentence, there's much more than that. Network design, database design, business management, programming...

Your degree will in all likelihood decide a large portion of the direction of your career. Not taking a degree you otherwise want to do just because the alternative has easier classes seems like a rather poor life decision.

I feel you, discrete math 1 was a joke I had no problem at all but discrete math 2 was sooo hard I changed university just to skip this course (for some reason discrete math 1 is enough there). I also changed from computer science to networking, database design and enterprise resource planning.

No what i said is your missing other subjects, computer science isn't just one degree it's a department, there are a whole bunch of degrees under it. I think the uni i primarily applied to has about 40 degrees under the computing department and then each one of those has multiple optional units. Also i just looked over an IAT major program and it seems there are only 2 units which seem to be the same which are a basic intro and an optional unit. The IAT has a heavy arts content, it seems much more like a media degree than comp sci.

Well if you're interested in art and tech and not math that would be a the best place to look. If you're not interested in art either look towards IT.

It was interesting, you gotta learn all the different layers and how they interact with each other. I met a friend of my father who works in networking and he showed me what kind of problem he solves every day.

My favourite part was the management course, which shows us in detail how to study a problem and how to solve it. I've got another management course this session. I will probably get my Cisco certification this year, too.

Computer science can be a single degree. The uni I'm going to has Computer Science for people wanting to work with software and Computer Engineering for those who want to work with hardware.
