See video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UatHtkJY3kc

What do you think of this whole situation?

My opnion is that he did it in self defense. End of story. She didn't only resist arrest, sheand her friend ganged up on him. That's what you get when you hit a cop, or indeed, hit anybody. Expect to get hit back.

Act like a lady and you will get treated like one.

I think the punch was justified, but maybe not necessary.

Well, things happen when you resist arrest. I personally don't have any sympathy. If it was an unjust arrest you can handle those matters civilly in court.

She deserved it and most of those people just sitting there watching should be charged for not helping the officer.

If this is the same video we saw yesterday, she deserved it. And she deserved it well before it actually occurred.

I always thought officers didn't want untrained civilians "helping" with an arrest. It seems like their help would have been unwelcome at best.

Since when was it illegal to not help an officer make an arrest?

It was a cheap shot. I would of loved to see him hit a man his size or better yet, twice his size.

LOL. Don't mess with cops, ever. They're ******** but they have all the power in any situation. I've learned to just do whatever they say because no matter how unfair it is, it will be worse if you don't fully cooperate. Hell, you could be cooperating and they think you're not. My buddy got in a fight in high school and was sitting on the ground handcuffed and the cop told him to stand up. How the hell do you stand up from having your butt on the ground and your hands cuffed behind your back? The cop got real pissed when he didn't magically levitate from my ass to his feet and dislocated his shoulder.

I doubt it. I don't think there's ever been a responsibility, legal or otherwise, for the average person to aid a police man arrest some one.

In fact, I highly doubt the officer would have wanted any help. He would have sent any one away who interfered in the situation

Girl was all unruly, usually I'm the first one call foul on cops because they should be held to a higher standard but that girl was just fighting at every step of the way.

Surprised she didn't get tazed seeing how that seems to be the usual response these days.

Quite obvious he got angry. He didn't do it to subdue her, he did it because he was pissed off. He should be, atleast suspended (no pay) and at worst fired.

She was wrong but she didn't deserve that. It doesn't take a genius to realize that he could've handled that in a better manner.

lol! Many people online will only say otherwise just because they enjoy seeing a black girl taking a punch(probably had a bad loud mouth black girl experience). :P

I don't think the race card needed to be pulled there. Most of us realize that the policeman was quickly being surrounded and had to deal with an unruly criminal. She got physical by resisting arrest and he just returned the favor. If she didn't resist arrest none of that would have happened.

... I don't see how the punch was warranted.. She was wrestling alittle bit, but not punching back or what not.. The cop should have tackled her yes.. But punching the suspect? I don't see how that is proper precedure what so ever to aprehend some one.

He could have done a lot worse (pulled out his weapon or used a baton) and still been within the bounds of the law. She got off lucky with that punch. It was completely justified and more than deserved.

I don't see how that punch was deserve in fact everytime i watch that vid it pisses me off, its not like she was trying to kill him, she was upset and all i saw her do was she kept shoving the cop and his proper response should have been to just grab her hands and handcuff her, not punch her square in the face. None of you guys would be saying she deserve it if it was someone you knew so get over yourselves also did you guys know the girl was underage she was 17, so if you guys feel cops have the right to beat own 17 yr old girls then you just gotta love America

The officer didn't try to kill her either; he just fended off her assault. You're aware that police officers are allowed to use even deadly force to protect themselves from physical assault, right? He went much easier on her than he could have. And if this was my sister or a girl I knew, I would STILL not be taking her side. I would tell her very simply..."don't assault a police offer, idiot." I mean, come on. That's just common sense.....or as it turns out, not so common.

If you watched the video, he was trying ti get cuffs on her for almost 2 minutes. When he punched her, there were two women clawing a scratching at him like vultures. It's instinct to lash out.
