Cops bad or good?

ok I have seen alot of diiferent opnions on things from children, girls, poilitc, religion but i was wondering how many people here see police officers as an important part of society or as a problem. I mean my bf hates cops and alot of people share his opinion on it and I was wondering what you guys thought of police?

I personally think cops are good and that they go through things and see things that we don't want to see or do and that they get alot of crap for a few cops major mistakes. I mean they deal with things we couldn't imagine and we treat them like crap so what do you all think?

ok so I thought laws determined what was deemed legal and not illegal not if there is someone enforcing those laws....

bad cop, no donut

i live in texas and it's safe to say the bad ones outnumber the good ones probably around 8 or 10 to 1. the vast majority of them are guys with power complexes.

Granted, there are bad police officers, buta police force are neccesary entity in a modern civilisation.

Its like anything else.Cops are people,there are good ones and bad ones. And as long as they are not abusing their jobs,and upholding the law, I have no problem. Even when I have been arrested I am respectful of teh poilce,they are just doing their job.

The only time i do not like them is 1. They abuse their position,or the people they are trying to protect,and think that they are above the law or are the law. 2. they are crooked. 3. When they are those kids that were bullied in highschool and now are police so they are trying to revenge old grudges. Im from a small town so i have seen that happen.

But other than that i like poilce,my best freinds father is an officer.

Every experience that I've had with police has been horrible. From my brother going to jail for 6 months for something he didn't do, to my father being assaulted for not having his ID on him, to the time when I was accused of stealing at a Kroger as a child and a cop decided to search me in a backroom where he basically sexually harassed me by checking my underwear and "lifting" my two boys. He never found nothing because I didn't take nothing. I don't trust/like them at all.GrindingAxe

I think he is just trying to say that maybe the basketball player to him means the sig holder is one of those people that thinks he is bad*** or something I think maybe I mean it sounds kind of like a stereotype thing to me...maybe...

I believe that the service they do (if not corrupt, biased, etc.) is good, but I absolutely despise the cops in my area. I live in Fargo, ND, and there is next to no crime here. Sure, there will be a robbery or some drug problems every once in a while, but overall, it's very low in crime, so they have NOTHING to do...and they're total power-hungry jerks....who are BORED. It's so frustrating.t3hrubikscube

I'm considering becoming a cop. The pay depends on the location if its a medium sized town then the pay will be much lower then for example a city cop in Chicago. The benefits are also good since it's a government job and when's the last time you heard of a cop getting laid off from work?

Cops in my area are bad. They never do anything but set up speed traps. EVERY DAY during lunch time they sit out undercover cops right where our school is to turn in the parking lot.

I got pulled over today for wearing my seatbelt incorrectly. I just had it under my arm today for some reason and somehow the guy is able to spot that. Only gave me a warning though. Many people have been caught by this cop and say he's a *** though.

I should have said, "Hey, thanks for protecting the city today. This is a better place now since I put my seatbelt on wrong one day. It's much better that you pull me over than arrest drug dealers or violent crimes."
