Hello all. What are you up to this weekend?

This weekend begs for trouble. We are supposed to stay home. The weather tells us to go out.

Personally I have done yard work, gave my son an early birthday gift, Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart. The evening will be either playing Mario Kart after he goes to bed, or Dark Souls 3.

My fiance is at the backyard grilling Ribs & Chicken on this sunny day Saturday and as for me, I'm gonna lay back and play Bright Memory & Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition I got both on sale from GoG. Later tonight, I'm rewatching the movie Contagion.

Same here in my area. I never thought I would be living in a dystopian era and what a shitty year for 2020 to be such a mess. This is really depressing.

Getting a gift/surprise like that is memorable forever. I still vividly remember my father buying me a SNES and SBS 1.000 back in 1991 and it was surprising because he wasn't the best with gifts.

Finally gaming again!

I might have to give things another week and make sure I don't develop any symptoms of Coronavirus. I picked a hell of a time to move.

I'm probably going to avoid going out too much unless it's for groceries or to take a walk along country roads now.

I'm playing Resi 2 Remake and watching Danny O'Dwyer's playthrough of Half Life: Alyx on Youtube (since I can't play it myself). I will also continue watching Kingdom on Netflix. It's a South Korean zombie series set in a historic setting.

He seemed happy. He wouldn't be doing anything else today unless I made him do something else :P

Built a twin XL boxspring. My twin was a little too small. Unfortunately, they couldn't also deliver the mattress I ordered.

Watched Diary of a Lost Girl, a UK import Blu-ray of a 1929 German silent movie earlier, which was great.

Watched X-Files earlier and South Park season 6 earlier.

Right now I'm watching Madonna: Truth or Dare. This movie pisses me off a little. It's because the Blonde Ambition Tour was one of my favorite concerts and I hate that it got such a crappy looking, boringly shot film by a different director (the concert in Nice, France) while this has a few songs from that tour at much better quality and with better filmmaking, but split up between a bunch of behind the scenes stuff. The movie follows Madonna during her tour. She originally wanted to use this director to just do a standard concert film, but he convinced her to make it mostly about the every day life of the tour. There is some interesting and cringey stuff for fans in here, though. I actually kind of enjoy seeing how insufferable she can be.

Edit: Done. This documentary is slightly underrated. Not by critics, by average movie watchers.

I saw over 40 military planes doing a secret exercise at night. It was such a cool thing to witness, but I hurt my back staring up at the sky so much at weird angles.

So today I am waiting for my back to get fixed and not much else.

It's actually been kind of cold and rainy here in normally-sunny California. I'm not complaining; I love the rain (and prefer the cold to hot), and it makes being indoors a little more tolerable and guilt-free haha.

As for me, I am trying to play as much of the amazing games this month has provided as I can, while also putting my VR headset to good use.

Oh and I started watching Homeland; damn, that's a good show!

Onward is coming to Disney Plus tomorrow so that will likely be part of my upcoming weekend. Also, to pass the time, and do something other than just stare at a screen all day, I have a thousand piece puzzle going. It's not "fun" but it is satisfying.

I went outside today and there are lots of people just doing their own thing. Most people aren't even wearing masks. I'm getting sick from staying in the house 24/7 so just going for a joy ride is good enough for me.

Not much this weekend. Doing the usual sitting around the house with family and doing whatever feels like a fun idea at the time. Lol.

Grocery deliveries today, so I'm set for another two weeks. They even got more of the Italian Pesto I like. Hurray. No more putting up with that watery Aussie shit I had to make do with last time.

Gaming and taking even more precautions - such as spraying my groceries with a disinfectant. Might sound excessive, but I just consider it the next step up from my existing precautions; I've already been checking myself for a fever daily since the beginning of March, for example. 37.1 Celsius today. A little higher than yesterday (36.8), but still normal.

sat around the house with the girlfriend and dog coding, gaming, doing bits of exercise and rinsing netflix, prime and disney+. thought it's a good time to start building an app i've had in mind for ages with a mate. deep diving into aws amplify this weekend.

looking at the data the uk's curve looks nowhere near flattening, wouldn't surprise me to see us start hitting 1000+ deaths a day next week

Taking a break and watching Spongebob...you know, you really feel bad for Squidward sometimes, I know I do. Trying to adjust my body's food intake and I've only eaten brockley, cauliflower, potatoes and oats today with some lemonade drink, oh and some toast with butter. Interesting times.

Newly infected has been somewhat stable the last 10 days in Norway. Daily fatalities are still rising though.

Didn't UK change their approach to this the previous week?

Didn't UK change their approach to this the previous week?

they announced two weeks ago they were implementing similar lock down measures to countries like spain, italy and china, a change from their initial softly softly, darwinian-like drive for us as a population to gain "herd immunity."

the herd immunity strategy, rather than be based on the successful distribution of a vaccine across the country, was instead more a survival of the fittest, 60% of the population need to become infected with a deadly pathogen approach, which naturally raised eyebrows when people looked at what was happening in other countries. the quick u-turn didn't come as much of a surprise.

i have a friend who lives in norway who's a goalkeeper coach who says that he think the football clubs will start training up again in small groups next week, and that there's been no mandatory social distancing introduced. sounds like a very different situation than in england, and from most of the rest of the world if it's true. what's your view on the situation in norway?

The GF is cooking chili, I'm doing some spring cleaning, push ups, sit ups, and lifting some, no more gym which is frustrating.

Since I'm stuck inside i decided

To download all of dragonball and dbz, slapped it on a jump drive to hook to the ps4, I swear its the greatest cartoon ever made. Been binging on it.its been years since last time i went through it.

Might make some art in adobe/Photoshop later.

Also been playing Prey 2017, great game.

It is under pressure/suppressed if that makes sense.
Potentially 18 months for a vaccine to arrive, and immunity based in being infected and then cured lacks data on how effective it actually is.

The last ten days have seen a plateau in daily new confirmed cases. Daily deaths is still rising, however patients in hospitals has gone down by like 10 people. Easter is “cancelled”. We will get updates on what to do during Easter. I hope school and gym can open up again.

Unless there is a plan that I am completely unaware of, I don’t see this going away as a problem anytime soon. If we assume immunity after being infected and then cured, the rate of infection is way to slow for that to be effective. A second and possible third wave can easily happen.

So in terms of keeping busy and keeping entertained this has been a pretty good weekend thus far. I received the bidet attachment yesterday and installed it late today, would have been yesterday, but it turned out I needed an adapter for it. Still haven't used it, but I'm fairly excited to try it out. Turns out the lack of easily available toilet paper was the exact excuse I needed to finally pull the trigger on buying one.

I've also got the herb seed kit that I got for Christmas started. I've got parsley, dill, oregano, and cilantro started with five more to come tomorrow.

My wife is making a necklace out of a wood pendant and a four leaf clover that I helped her find, a skill I'm pretty decent at, which I did sitting outside with our two kitties.

Finally, we have watched three movies, Onward which Disney released early, Saved which is a 2004 movie about a group of kids (mostly girls) in a catholic high school which I totally recommend as it's very much a dramedy, and Get Him to the Greek.

Wooh! Been very busy today.

Which one did you get? I ordered a TUSHY Spa 2 days ago but it won't arrive until May. They got me with their marketing. Their reviews look pretty good as well and it wasn't that expensive.

Well, I'm unemployed at the moment so I got a really cheap one, 13$, and I'm honestly not even sure of the brand. I intend to replace it with a more expensive one later (like in the range of $200) that has electric warming water whenever I get a job again, but for now this will do.

Hell, I just looked it up on Amazon and I still can't find the brand.

Hey as long as it works and there's no leaking, which is my main concern. Knowing me I'll probably forget to turn the water off before I start installing it.

there'll be no chance gyms or schools will be open any time soon in the uk. based on what you're saying i can't see them reopening in norway to be honest, unless your hospitals are coping really well and won't be phased by the likely rise in cases. sounds like my mate has been exaggerating norway's progress vs corona, he's smitten with his new adopted home and likes to portray norwegians as a higher form of life than us lowly english idiots!

@Macutchi: Only one third of the possible available ICU are being used and the number being used has gone down the last week. The lockdown has worked and it is still another week left of it.

Many exams are already canceled though, so I got my doubts about school opening at all before summer.

The weekend was okay, but mostly I am not really happy with this new reality.

I gotta say im not fully understanding the point of prolonged lockdowns that last more than a month. Everyone quarantined that was infected should have recovered by that time.

I spent most of the weekend binge-watching a Resident Evil 7 playthrough on YouTube. I'm having a better time when watching horror games as opposed to playing them myself.

@amillionhp:

Lockdown doesn't mean all economic activity, and therefore travel, stops, and you can't test everybody. There will always be undetected infections and deaths beyond the official numbers. See South Korea; they pretty much have the outbreak under control, but they're still reporting 50-150 new cases daily.

Which is fine. The goal of these mitigation measures isn't to stop the virus completely, it's to slow it down to a manageable infection rate.

mainly video games for me, some Mount & Blade 2, a WW 2 mod for Rising Storm 2 and some other random games with friends. lots of youtube videos. managed to get out and walk around for a while on a closed golf course on Saturday since it was nice out.

Things aren't too bad here with active cases and hospitalizations leveling off recently, and they never got too bad to begin with, so we never had to go into full lockdown. though my employers said we'll likely be working from home until the start of June if not longer since we are well set up to work from home so the people in charge aren't in any rush to have us back in the office.

at this point, personally i'm more worried about keeping sane than contracting the virus since I live alone, though I don't disagree with the measures being taken here.

I went to the grocery store today it felt like I was walking on a set of a dystopian movie alot of people looking down and social distancing wearing mask and gloves.

Same here in my area. I never thought I would be living in a dystopian era and what a shitty year for 2020 to be such a mess. This is really depressing.

How were the ribs?
