Could California become two states?

Apparently, there's ligislation being attemped right now that would make Southern California a separate state. It's not serprising because they're like two separate states anyway.

I live on Long Island, NY and for years I have daydreamed about Long Island becoming an independent state. We get no return on our investment from NY State.

I suppose our Official State Bird can be a Seagull. Perhaps Mineola or Islip can be the capital.

Eh, Cali is going to fall into the ocean after 'the big one' anyway :P

Geographically, LA is part of SoCal. It doesn't make sense to have it as an isolated part of NorCal in the middle of SoCal.

Yes but states aren't formed based on political affiliations, they're formed based on geographical boundaries. If SoCal wants to be a state, they have to accept LA as part of it.

Hopefully this happens. California has too much Electoral Votes and members of Congress. No one state should have all that pull.

because you need our food. Where else is the rest of the country going to get summer squash and fresh fruit in the middle of winter :P Also, lets not forgot that California has one of the top 15 GDPs (or whatever its called) in the world. The US needs California to stay on top :D
