Apparently, there's ligislation being attemped right now that would make Southern California a separate state. It's not serprising because they're like two separate states anyway.

Can they? Yes. Will they? No.
I live on Long Island, NY and for years I have daydreamed about Long Island becoming an independent state. We get no return on our investment from NY State.
I suppose our Official State Bird can be a Seagull. Perhaps Mineola or Islip can be the capital.
As a New Yorker I'm actually ok with this. You can take Staten Island too if you want tooCan they? Yes. Will they? No.

If they're gonna propose something like that, at least be creative and come up with a better name than "South California."Maniacc1How about "West Arizona"?

I find it hard to take seriously a proposal that wants to establish SoCal as a state but leave LA as part of NorCal.chessmaster1989I don't want LA County in South California anyway. I want it to be conservative because I can't afford to move to Texas. :D

Geographically, LA is part of SoCal. It doesn't make sense to have it as an isolated part of NorCal in the middle of SoCal.

supposedly on Dec 21st. They better secede before then. Actually, after the quake, California may literally secede from the union . . . and into the ocean.I don't want LA County in South California anyway. Yeah, well, politically speaking, it acts like a northern California county. That's why So-Cal doesn't want it.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="The-Apostle"] I don't want LA County in South California anyway. I want it to be conservative because I can't afford to move to Texas. :DThe-Apostle

They still fight with AZ and Nevada over the Colorado river. So does South California now buy water from other states?

Why we're at it, let's divide the entire country in to East and West America. Put all the liberals in one, and conservatives in the other. Joseph P
I would not object, I hate Southern California.
It'd be great...you can have North California, and South Concreteland Built In A Freaking Desert

Why don't we just kick California out of the Union entirely and be done with it?ferrari2001
because you need our food. Where else is the rest of the country going to get summer squash and fresh fruit in the middle of winter :P Also, lets not forgot that California has one of the top 15 GDPs (or whatever its called) in the world. The US needs California to stay on top :D
lol I forgot what president said it, and I am paraphrasing, but he said "When I want to go West, I go to Washington or Oregon. When I want to get West of the West, I go to California."

lord I would hope so, I am sick of that desert taking all my beautiful, clean Mt Shasta water
Interesting, because I have traveled to LI before, and I found out that LI and NYC residents have a real rivalry going on. I was told they don't get along very well. Can they? Yes. Will they? No.

I was told they don't get along very well.I've lived here my whole life and I really haven't noticed any rivalry (perhaps because Brooklyn acts as a buffer betwee LI and NYC (and upstate NY is a whole seperate animal). I'd say everyone pretty much picks on Staten Island though :PCan they? Yes. Will they? No.
