Could God be dead?

Is it possible he planted the seeds for the universe and our existence, and then faded away for ever? Like how a bee supposedly dies after it stings you, it never gets to see it's true effects. Maybe that's why God never answers our calls?

EDIT: Even stranger. Maybe he died making us, the first life forms, and never got the chance to populate his universe? Just my imagination going here... but none the less.
