Am 15, and 5'8 and a half inches. My dad is 5'8" and my mom is 5'4". If I continue to workout, stretch, and eat healthy is it likely that I could grow 3 and a half inches in 5-6 years, when am done growing? Thanks.

Yep. I was pretty short (probably about 5ft5) when I was 14/15, but now I'm 18 and almost 6ft.

Depends on your genes. Not sure if working out with help though cos I've only started working out in the last year, but I still growed a lot.

it's possible, but usually (at least in my experience) growing usually slows down around 15.

I am 6 ft and I am 16. I haven't been doing anything special (at least to my knowledge). Like someone else said, it seems like you do most growing between 15 and 16 then after that you slow down. It's still possible though.

if your genetics allow it, yes. I haven't grown since 7th grade, I'm still the same height.

That's strange. I experienced rapid growth when I was around 14 and 15, and then continued to grow (albeit at a slower pace) and especially fill out when I was 16-17. I guess everyone's different, but if my research was done properly, most people's growth slows and evens out at around 17-18. TC, given the height of of your parents, and assuming you don't have many other taller relatives, I'd say you'd be lucky to get another inch or two before you stop growing.

You aren't just going to magically grow taller than your parents because you work out. Not how that works. If you stay healthy you could maybe gain an inch, but not three.

You're 15 years old and my height, and I'm 20. When I was 15 I was 5'3"-ish. You don't stop growing until you're like 25. You'll probably be able to do it.

I hope that I grow. I'm 14 and I'm about 5'1". My parents are 5'6" (I think) and 6'. But even though I am short I should be thankful that I'm not as short as that kid in my music class... I don't know how tall he is, but he's pretty short and I think he could pass for 10 or even 8 (years old).

No. exercise releases growth hormone. And 20-40% of height is environment. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=how-much-of-human-height

Ahhhh, that kind of stretching.

I was thinking more along the lines of 1 person has your hands, the other has your feet and they pull simultaneously making your body stretch

That seems a bit weird. I would recommend the more "traditional" forms of growth exercises http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yozyf8WIJw. I don't really do them though.

hmmm it is possible. Not likely, though, but you never know.

I went from 5'11'' to 6'3'' age 14-18 though, so hold on to hope!

Also, dont work out too much, that actually stunts your growth. But only if youre really reaaly into working out

At age 15 I was like 6' even and now at 19 I'm 6'4", so I'd say it's definitely possible. Maybe not that likely but it could happen.

I was about 5'3" in 9th grade. I grew about 8 inches over the summer. I came back to school, and some people who didn't see me over the summer were like WTF? When did you grow? Then I grew about 2 inches over the rest of my teenage years. So you might have time.

Oh, and my mom is 5'1", and my dad is 5'10". I'm 6'1". But my grandpa is 6'0" and my grandma is 5'7". They say height skips a generation. I don't know if it's true or if it's an old wives tale. But maybe look to your grandparents to see how tall you will be.

Sorry, your height is predetermined by your genes; you will grow any taller no matter how much you work out.

It depends on your genes. If no one in your family is over 5'8", then it is highly unlikely you will grow taller than that.

Working out, stretching, or eating healthy isn't going to make you grow any more than your potential. As long as you aren't under nourished, you'll grow. From my observations way back guys in my class grew a lot around 14-16yrs, so you could grow some more. 5'8" isn't really short anyway

Unlikely, based on the height of your parents. You're probably not going to get much taller than them.

I think you'll still grow. I grew quickly up to my mid-teens, then I kept growing slowly (right now 19). I still see a difference in height now compared to 1-2 years ago. Good luck.

My own experience would say no, but there is such a thing as a late bloomer. I hit 5'11"-ish when I was 13 and haven't grown since. I'd venture to say most people are finished growing by 15, but not everyone.

My parents are both about 5'5 to 5'8 and I'm 6'4. One day I asked my mom why I had such big feet (size 12 at 13 years, and about 5'6 tall) and she told me it was because I would grow tall. Of course I didn't beleive her but then it happened over the period of about a year I grew 6 inches and slowly grew until the height I'm at now.
