Dinosaur Jr. - Just Like Heaven (Original by the Cure)
Two of my favourite covers ever. Especially the Dinosaur Jr. one. :)

All along the watchtower - Jimi (Even though I still like Bob Dylan's version)
You Really Got Me - Van Halen
Crossroads - Cream
Dead Kennedys didn't cover I Fought the Law, technically, they rewrote it. Same with Viva Las Vegas. Their cover of the Rawhide theme was great, and an actual cover. My favorite cover of all time is Crooked's Still's version of Come on in My Kitchen by Robert Johnson, though it still doesn't surpass the original.Nirvana-Where Did You Sleep Last Night
Muse-Feeling Good
Dead Kennedy's-I Fought the Law
LostProphetFLCL
Cloudbusting (Kate Bush cover) by Wild Nothing
Dinosaur Jr. - Just Like Heaven (Original by the Cure)
TheFatPerson
I just watched the afi cover in the related videos and Robert Smith looks like he wants to kill himself.
Dead Kennedy's-I Fought the Law
LostProphetFLCL
I forgot how great this song is.
Regina Spektor - Real Love
Johnny Cash - Hurt. Duh, I know. I've just been listening to The Downward Spiral for the past couple of days, and the song is just so inferior to the cover.
Johnny Cash doing anything, except maybe Cat's in the Cradle.
I like the Five Finger Death Punch about as much as the original of Bad Company.
All Along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
CHOASXIII
Yep, much better than Dylan's however I prefer this one to Hendrix's
Bear McCreary- All Along the Watchtower
Also, as much as I love NIN, Johnny Cash's cover of hurt is absolute boss mode
Johnny Cash- Hurt
strapping young lad - exciter (judas priest cover)
the song isnt that long, it stops around 5 minutes or whatever. he gets the high pitches perfectly, if you like metal you should give it a listen. there's more i like but i don't think anyone here will know the bands.
Det Som Engang Var (Burzum)- Aborym.
Iszdope
I can't imagine any cover doing this song justice - I'm going to have to hunt this down

Sweat Dreams - Eurythmics, cover by Marilyn Manson.
Iszdope
Blasphemy!
Wat, I was expecting to be called on blasphemy, potentially, on the Hendrix cover, since he's got fanboys. But Sweat Dreams O.o, surprising, it's not really that great of a song either the original or the cover. Was just the quickest, non-Paul Gilbert cover I could think of. :DA lot of the ones I was going to post have already been said so,
Lissie- Pursuit of Happiness
Marylin Manson- Personal Jesus

A cover doesn't mean it's a copy of the song. They can re-work it at will. This is how you end up with great covers actually.
Other covers that really do something different with the song:
System of a Down-The Metro
Nirvana-The Man Who Sold the World
Lostprophets-Cry Me a River
Maybe this is pushing it a little bit, but i find it better than the original myself...

Oh man, there's so many but probably my favorite. It absolutely destroys the Bee Gee's version (sorry to the few of you that still enjoy 60's pop, Janis just puts so much emotion)
Janis Joplin- To Love somebody
Ana Free"Sway" (byBic Runga)
Brandon Hines "How to Love" (by Lil Wayne)
TecmoGirl
Bout time someone else put Youtube users' covers in this thread

That's weird. I watched it and it wasn't that bad. In fact, I actually quite liked it.
This is the worst one by far.
Or this one.
