Crap movies with awesome trailers

I can think of two. A Scanner Darkly looks so intriguing from it's trailer. I'd imagine most people might want to check it out after seeing it, especially if their a bit more open minded with a taste for the unusual. However, even my artistic brother who likes black and white stuff which ends in FIN said it's crap.

Another is Dark City. It just looks so Gothic and wow! What an amazing film that's going to be! What a cult movie!.... No. I'm afraid not. Slow, ridiculous and churns out Dues Ex Machina like it's coming out of a peperoni machine.

I agree with you, but the trailers made the movies seem so much better than 2 star quality with some enjoment.

Umm... Dark City is a freaking great movie >_> I enjoyed A Scanner Darkly as well.Jandurin

The first thing someone does when they make a piece of crap is make excuses. In this case the excuse is "Oh we were going for that look and feel". Yeah right, no one spends millions and millions on a movie that looks bad.

Come to think of it, that's the same excuse Emmerich and Co. used for Independence Day, Godzilla and The Day After Tomorrow. The truth of the matter is they just make crap movies.

I'm glad some people liked Dark City because I was trying hard to like it but it was just....Meh. It could of been so much better! It wasn't fun at all. I felt embarrassed watching it in the cinema. I remember walking out and I could hear some poor guys girlfriend going "That was the worst pile of **** you ever taken me to see" she was making out like he directed it or something.

Evidence of the films failer is how The Crow (directed by the same person) is still known by almost everyone today yet Dark City is pretty much forgotten. I wanted the film to do better then it did, because I want more (good) films in that style!

Instead the movie (still grossly overrated) consisted of good cinematography, good acting by DDL but an utterly horrible, uneventful story capped off by the most ridiculous ending I have ever seen. I was embarassed for the actors watching that ending...

I not seen this one but I had a look at the trailer and I think I see where your coming from. It looks like it's going to have a huge build up to a dramatic climax. I'll take your word for it and pass on that one.

A Scanner Darkly is pretty awful.

Others include:

Battlefield Earth.

Matrix Revolutions.
