Creating humanity 2.0. For or against?

I recently met some surprising resistance in a discussion about stem cell research, and i was wondering how people in off topic would respond to the following:

Let's say there is this project about creating a species that is better than human in almost every way. Intellect, understanding, caring, immune system, extended youth/longevity, regeneration, seeing in the dark, steady fertility. You name it. And they are looking for ways to replace humanity with this superior species.
And let's say through marketing a large portion of humanity has already accepted this and they have started production of the new species instead of generating human babies. They expect humanity to be fully replaced within a 100 years time.

Would You support the project or would You oppose it; and are Your reasons based on logic, or something else entirely?

Would I disappear?

Well, I don't know if I'd support having humans 1.0 going extinct. What if some of us wanted kids? And what happens if we have sex and our protection fails?

Otherwise, I'm not really against creating the superior species, I guess...

Depends, do I get to retain my experiences and personality from being a human 1.0?

Edit: nvm after rereading the OP I guess I don't get to be a part of this gen. So no I don't support it.

You don't become superior. You simply become obsolete throughout Your life as a human being, in order to let a superior species thrive. You don't disappear or anything.
And whether You can do anything about it or not isn't that important. I'd just like to know whether You would be for it or against it, and why.

Put it another way and see what you think:

A clearly superior alien species descends onto our planet and informs us we have 100 years to kick off. Do you support them or us?

As for the original question, go humans.

I would support it. I don't think it's evil or playing God for us to want to use our intellect to evolve our species. Still, there's a fine line between bettering the human race and using this power to create a race of super soldiers to conquer the planet with.

There's plenty of beauty left in this world, but we as a race of pretty much lost the ability to appreciate it, much less protect it properly. We don't deserve this world so I'm grateful we're given existence at all and a chance.

No, Humans should not be creating life in a Laboratory.

There will be a war between the original humans and humans 2.0 and us original human would be kill and cease to exist.

I'm not gonna be kicked aside without a fight.

Under certain conditions, I would support it. If we had the ability to create artificial intelligence or a new breed. I think we should.

HOWEVER, we have neither the resources nor the space for another way to increase population. I think creating humanity 2.0 should be held off until we have acheived or come close to a utopia (which should be a while). Maybe after we terraform Mars. :)

Better to be enslaved by sexy 2.0 humans than evil robots.

I choose Pie because I don't give a D**n anymore. We are boned anyway and I want to enjoy my pie and die happy. Plus, man will never achieve perfection.

I think Humanity is fine how it is to be honest. Yeah we could have a few more good looking people, and less ugly ones but natural selection will see to that in time ...

To oppose these Humans 2.0, we must be ahead of them with technology, so we must create giant robots with guns to defend ourselves :o
