While I think both actors are fully capable of playing him....I feel like DDL does more...."interesting" roles. this seems kinda out of place for him, no?
Daniel Day Lewis is my favorite actor, so I'd prefer to see him in the part. I like Liam, but I don't think he's in the same league.

I think the word is "varied". He never seems to want to do the same role twice, or anything particularly like it, and he absorbs just about every role he plays. I think he's the perfect choice for this frankly.
Anyway, I hope this is at least a somewhat nuanced look at Lincoln, and not a hero portrayal. I hate it when biopics do that, particularly with presidents and other politicians.Rhazakna
From what I understand, this is supposed to be about the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination.

Sounds interesting, but it could still very easily be a hero portrayal.[QUOTE="Metal_Mario99"][QUOTE="Rhazakna"] Anyway, I hope this is at least a somewhat nuanced look at Lincoln, and not a hero portrayal. I hate it when biopics do that, particularly with presidents and other politicians.Rhazakna

Sounds interesting, but it could still very easily be a hero portrayal.Well, Lincoln was a hero. I mean, the man wasn't a secret heroin addict who only saved the Union because it would make his stock go up. You can't rake muck if it's not there (though Hollywood does try).

Eh... there's always plenty of muck, even with heroes. I prefer honest portrayals of historical figures that tell the truth because it's telling the truth to those that try to white wash a villain or black wash a hero. It doesn't diminish the status of any hero to be displayed for their faults as well as their heroism. It just brings them down to earth.
All I ask for is a balanced portrayal, none of Tarantino's historical fantasia and none of Oliver Stone's political ditch digging.

I would debate that, but this is not a political thread. Suffice to say, Lincoln was not a hero in my opinion. I don't want to derail this thread, so I'll leave it at that. Please Log In to post.
