Maybe, but I wonder how objective this dude is. Maybe he just accidentally runs into controversial data or maybe he's looking for it and for the most part if you go looking for something you'll find it in one form or another.
Other than that I'm not sure there is much to say as what this guy used to measure intelligence isn't even mentioned.
I think agnostic are the most intelligent.Lairdo91Atheist and agnostic aren't mutually exclusive. You can be an agnostic theist or agnostic atheist. Atheism is the lack of a belief in god, not the certainty there is no god. **** this misconception is so common it's starting to piss me off.
I think i like Winston Churchill's quote about fanatics the best "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject"
Maybe it's blind faith that stops analytical thinking? There is no need to search for an answer as you already have one in religion. So you can let your brain put it's feet up? (not sure i believe any of this i'm a bit bored at work and rambling on!)
"Helmuth Nyborg belongs to that branch of psychologists who believe that intelligence depends more on genetic factors than environment."
Environment has every bit to do with it. Now, don't get me wrong, I do believe super babies have more of an advantage, but only if raised in a proper environment. Just as a non super baby would have a better advantage over a super baby if the environment were better then the super baby's environment.
I do agree, that it worries me that intelligent people breed less.
As for the male-female, or the black-white issue, total bollocks. One gender or race is NOT born smarter then another.
Personally, I think Agnostic is the most intelligent way to go. The wise man is one who admits he knows nothing. _Marisa_
Totaly agree there fella

I would call that man indecisive, or afraid of conflict.
Indecisive is the correct one, for he does not know anything to base an assumption on.(im also agnostic).
This guy seems likea whack-job. Consider that he does not subscribe to environment. The main difference between a religious and atheist person is the amount of brainwashing they recieve at an early age.
What a terrible argument this guy applies. I am not a believer in much, but to say that atheists are more intelligent for not believing... yieks.
Maybe some atheists are just more thought provoking types of people. They have different ideals and ideologies. It doesn't make them smarter. They may look towards the stars and see stars, but someone who is religious look towards the stars and see hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
[QUOTE="Rattlesnake_8"]lol@ the idea that you can determine peoples intelligence by their religious beliefs. It just shows his intelligence.jointed
Doesn't the fact that you question a professor's intelligence...do nothing more than exposing your own?
Professor's aren't prone from idiocity.

Sorry, but you don't become a professor at a university by being an idiot...

Wrong way around. I think the implication he's trying to make(and makes more sense) is that people are atheist because they are more intelligent.
It depends on his selection of subjects, though. A fundamentalist YEC is likely to be less intelligent than a progressive evolution believing christian.

You do these days.
dang it! I guess I should just drop out of college now since I'm not smart enough for it... >_>

I can't say I agree with you... but that's coming from a fundamentalist YEC :P

Sorry if i offended you, didnt mean all YECs are like that, or that the nature of YECism is like that. I'm just saying that I excpect the most nit-picking, close-minded people to be selected for the believers while veritable geniuses are selected from the atheist side.

Have you ever attended a university before? There are plenty of dumb professors who are, at most, able to relay their syllabus's to their students - and any derivation would only result in failure.

Oh, you're fine. I never take offence to stuff like that... I used to make fun of "I ain't come from no monkey!" people myself :P That is when I believed evolution on a large scale to be true myself however.

Look under Red herring fallacies, Appeal to authority.
I can see how.
A lot of atheists are atheists BECAUSE of education. They are educated in a world based on facts or at least strong theory. They study things that are supported usually with hard evidence depending on the field of study.
Religion is faith based so people from the above mentioned demographic would be less inclined to support or follow it based on their habitual study of facts and evidence alone.
Im stupid and an atheist so i guess there are exceptions.
I dont know about more intelligent since there really is no way to test such an asumption, but atheists are certainly more open minded which could give the illusion of being more intelligent. I found that conversations with an atheist can cover a wider range of topics which some religious people would avoid.rzepak
now that I am willing to believe.
Off-topic, is IQ still the accepted mechanism for testing intelligence?
I don't see one ore another being more "open" or "educated". There are crazies on both ends who for whatever reason can't understand a different point of view and simply assign that other point of view as "stupid" or something to that effect. I know strong religious folk who can't possibly imagine why someone would think differently. I know atheists who feel the same way on their end and learned everything they know about religion from TV and the movies but love to talk like they're experts

Did you read the article? It was a test done that proved that most atheists score higher on IQ Tests than religious beleivers. The same way that is has been proved that men are more intelligent than women, asians and middle easterners score higher than any other ethnic group, etc.

Where did it say that? It didn't even mention what testing was done. Just that this dude studied some info.

It's not that complicated to become a professor. Do well in school...and as we know doing well in school doesn't always equate to intelligence. Some people can memorize and test well. I've had some professors that weren't all that.
I don't know......I've seen some atheists here and there that I KNOW I beat in intelligence.;)
LJS9502_basic
well i guess its confirmed then. one atheist man believed to be stupid, all atheists confirmed dumb (confirmed)
