[QUOTE="Elann2008"]I was reading an article about Heath Ledger (Oscar hopeful) and they're saying, most likely he wont win it. They're totally basing this on the fact that there was only one person ever in history to win an Oscar after he died. I forgot the name of the guy. So the chances of Heath winning an Oscar is slim to none. They also added that just because he died, doesnt increase his chances of winning. The Academy just doesnt see it in that light. Which I think is sad. Heath should win best supporting actor, and I will still root for him.
I dont really care what genre the movie is in, as long as it was a great performance, the actor deserves a chance at gold.

are you serious. yes he does deserve an oscar for his part but to say its sad that the academy wont base their decision on the fact that he is dead and it would mean a lot to a lot of people if he did win is just rediculous. and sometimes its overdone. somehow Johnny Cash still manages to win awards and the guys been dead for almost what 3 years now
Yeah, when I read it, I was surprised. The only person to ever win an Oscar after their death was Peter Finch. Oscar watchers and veteran critics are saying that fans are the ones to blame for hyping this all up.

I'll be the optimist and say he wins. I dont care what those critics say.
