its such a waste of time in my opinion. its not worth the heartbreak and we dont really know what love is at our age.

it always distracts me from school and i always end up downing bad in school everytime i get involved with a girl....yea its fun but is it worth the time?

what do you guys think?

Dang it! You confused me, I said yes meaning it is a good idea. Not yes it's a waste of time. But dating in high school is the best, especially when you got a girlfriend, there's nothing better than to hang out with a girl on a Friday night and getting some dome from her!

I feel the same way as you. It's really a waste of time to get involved with a girl, especially at such an important year in High School.

If you have a girlfriend you always have someone to chill with. Also, you get to go to dances without having to ask chicks out.

As long as you don't go into things with the idea that it's going to be any kind of lasting relationship, high school dating is pretty fun.

And being able to manage your time so that your grades don't suffer is pretty basic, I think.

It's fine I think. I've only had one GF in high school so far, but it didn't really affect me. We just mostly hung out on weekends, occassionaly hung out for a few hours on a weekday, but it never really changed my schedule too much.

It's not a waste of time its practice for later in life when you can get something from it. The earlier the better just don't think much of it, consider it a side thing like a hobby or a sport.

Its better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all. They say high school relationships never last but I know some that have. One of my teachers got married to someone she was dating since she was a freshman in high school. Its not a waste of time.

Dating in general is rarely for the purpose of an end-all be-all relationship. Dating in high school is largely for developing your skills in handling those of the opposite sex, as well as helping you understand how to deal with a serious relationship.

I say dating in High School is okay as long as you don't take it seriously.

Two of my teachers are getting married to each other, and they've been together since 11th grade I believe. I agree,it's not always a waste of time.

Yeah, why not? You learn more about yourself, besides everyone should experience love.

I think it's important to learn what NOT to do when you meet someone you really care about. Think of it as a training experience.

My parents met in high school. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for that so how dare you call it a waste of time.

On a more serious note people are mature enough for a relationship in high school (not all of course) and it's good practice for the future.

Yes dating in highschool is a waste of time but that doesn't include doing one time things with girls.

It's worth it. Yes it can lead to drama but it can also lead to a lot of good things, too. Keep an open mind.

It's not a waste of time at all. It helps you develope relationship skills and that sort of thing. You don't want your awkward first relationship to be in college do you? Not to mention it can be a lot of fun. and every once and a while it can lead to something serious and long term. I started dating a girl my senior year in highschool and we dated for three and a half years. (no we did not follow each other to college. We had both had separately decided on which college to go to before we started dating and it just happened to be the same one)

Depends on the individual. In my case, no. It just isn't worth the time/money/effort investment, not to mention emotional roller coasters. However, there are many who I think would really benefit from the experience.

I wouldn't know-I have yet to be in a relationship. However, I don't see why you shouldn't date in high school-I've met some families that are very happy in which the parents met in high school.

Yes. You're only a teen once, have fun. While most relationships won't last, it's part of growing up and gaining experience. Plus I think the good times you'll have will probably outweigh the bad.
