OK, so I just watched Dead Snow last night. It was an amazing zombie film; as hilarious as Shaun of the Dead, and yet with better writing and better zombie fighting, gore, and all that good stuff! Some of the moments had me shouting with more glee than I did when seeing Zombieland!

Shaun of the Dead is, imo, a historic title for blending the two genres of horror and comedy so well, but I personally think it has been trumped.

My question to you: have you seen both of these films, and which do you prefer more?

Dead Snow

Basically its your typical story of a bunch of college med students going up to an isolated cabin in the snow. Local lore has it that the neighboring down was host to evil nazis during WWII, and the story unfolds from there...

Basically a loser and his friend wake up one day to discover zombies (literally) in their back yard, and in a quest to sort of redeem himself the loser goes off the rescue his girlfriend.

So, do you like Dead Snow? Do you like Shaun? Both? Neither?

And I loved Shaun of the Dead. Got some hilarious segments.

Dead Snow is in the mail right now! I'm gonna be able to see it tomorrow :) Will revisit thread then. That said I liked Hot Fuzz more than Shaun... I feel like Shaun of the Dead lost its focus once the zombies actually took over.

i agree. tbh, while I appreciated Shaun of the Dead and what it did ("Hey, look people, horror movies can be fun!") it just slowly fell apart as the movie went on.

Dead Snow is a little more horror-centric, but it is still fun and lighthearted.

zombies can't survive in the snow. how is this even possible even if zombies were real. a snow zombie would be like, "oh no...that frozen corpse is trying to eat me...." -_-

Dead Snow doesn't even compare to Shaun of the Dead in my opinion.

Yeah I also found Dead Snow to be pretty weak. But then I also remember not really liking Shaun of the Dead when I saw it a first time, and loving it after seeing it a second time. Maybe I should give Dead Snow another shot.

Both movies were bad.. (you know, funny, but bad). Dead Snow was just a bit too bad for me.

Dead Snow by default because Shaun of the Dead annoyed the heck out of me. It was probably what they were aiming for, but I could barely stand to watch it.

I thought Dead Snow was pretty uneven and not very well executed in terms of comedy and internal logic. Shaun of the Dead on the other hand I find to be an absolute treasure of a comedy film with just enough tragedy and drama to keep it from fully descending into the realm of detached farce.

So Shaun of the Dead for me please!

eh, Dead Snow was pretty entertaining, but no part of it reached the peaks that shaun of the dead did. and the worst parts of shaun of the dead were better than the worst parts of dead snow.

Never watched dead snow, but I'll check it out. Shaun of the Dead was good, but not as great as people were saying. Besides, I liked Simon Pegg much more in Hot Fuzz.

I still need to see Dead Sno but thats more of a corny movie imo to begin with. Whereas Shaun of The Dead was a great all around movie

So hands down with Shaun.
