For the millionth time, the 21st is outdated. The Mayan calender already ended a long time ago. People need to move on already.

Can we make these threads a moddable offense?
at this point, they are like fad threads, and should be locked on site.
No, but at the rate we're going right now, I wouldn't be surprised if another shooting occurred somewhere that day.

Dying swans twisted wings, beauty not needed here
Lost my love, lost my life, in this garden of fear
I have seen many things, in a lifetime alone
Mother love is no more, bring this savage back home
Wilderness house of pain, makes no sense of it all
Close this mind dull this brain, messiah before his fall
What you see it's not real, those who know will not tell
All is lost sold your souls to this brave new world
Our brave new world, in a brave new world
Our brave new world, in a brave new world
In a brave new world, Our brave new world
In a brave new world, Our brave new world
Dragon kings dying queens, where is salvation now?
Lost my life lost my dreams, rip the bones from my flesh
Silent screams laughing here, dying to tell you the truth
You are planned and you are damned in this brave new world
Our brave new world, in a brave new world
Our brave new world, in a brave new world
In a brave new world, Our brave new world
In a brave new world, Our brave new world

Thank god for OT which is the only thing that reminds me of the imminent end.
Reminds you? I think everyone here is against it.

Don't worry about it. Come the 22nd all that's going to happen is relief. Probably give some people, mainly the ones who believe in it, a nicer appreciation for life.
Besides, not all prophecies are about a cataclysmic event that causes suffering and death. Some believe we enter a new age of purity and such on the date. It's just that scary things are a lot more likely to settle in the mind and thus they're the predictions that have become popular.
You're an idiot.Due to leap years invented in Roman times the Mayan calender ended about 515 years ago, right around 1497. We're still here.

No, nothing will happen that isn't man doing something to itself. As in small riots or shootings.
I can however honestly say, I'd love to see those stories of the mayan gods coming back like some of the stories say. Bam, wake up to alien crafts floating over major cities. That would be awesome, as long as they aren't conquerors and simply advance humans to a new stage of evolution.
Read: Childhood's End. Still, I believe nothing abnormal is going to happen.

You can't look at it in terms of calendar days. You have to look at it in terms of where we WILL BE relative to the rest of the galaxy. The translation between the Long Count calendar and our own is accurate, leap year days are accounted for, and the galactic alignment is still taking place on December 21st (otherwise known as a simple winter solstice). For the millionth time, the 21st is outdated. As for you.... Meh you're not worth it.[QUOTE="vfibsux"] I'm an idiot for posting fact? I guess that puts someone like you on par with the brain function of a gnat. I'm surprised you can find the button to turn on your PC, much less type.JohnF111You're an idiot because the Mayan Calender is barely different and it even counted the weather and crop cycles due to the earth moving closer and further from the sun, it is something like 99.999% accurate and if you were to count the difference it would be like 3 days out over 2000 years compared to our current Calender. The accuracy of the Mayan Calender could be gauged by the following comparison: The Mayans calculated our Earth Year as 365.2420 days. The exact calculation accepted today is 365.2422 days!
Even so. The Mayans never said the world would end. It's just the end of their long calender. They rejoiced and celebrated the end of a long calender much as we celebrate new year. They believe now that there's even more calenders dating after 2012 in the Mayan time line anyway. But even if it wasn't, they obviously wasn't going to make calenders from now to the end of time. They probably thought more along the lines of "Let's stop here, we'll make new calenders in a couple of hundred years time when the end of these ones is approaching. Otherwise we'll be here forever making these!"
Even if they were right and the world was to be destroyed. The Mayans believed in an afterlife. So if they were right about one seemingly illogical thing, they're probably right about that too. Something about having to survive a deadly voyage to go their rendition of heaven. Unless you sacrifice your life, or die in child birth, which granted you free access. So sacrifice your life to save others if the world starts ending!
I made a TL;DR and didn't even notice.
I hope there's no apocolypse, the 21st is when I'll be finished with this semester and going back home to start Winter Break.

Sorry to break it up to you but some archaelogists found a mayan calendar that went farther than 2012 a few months ago, look it up if you dont believe me.[QUOTE="vfibsux"][QUOTE="-Tish-"]So are you.-Tish-
I'm sorry I refuse to believe the Mayan apocalypse prediction, when they were unable to predict their own demise. We've had these end of the world predictions before, and we're still here, so I'm pretty confidant we'll be fine.layton2012
I'll just go ahead and repeat it for those who skip through. They never predicted the end. People have just misinterpreted it, some in order to make tv shows and turn it into a business to sell doomsday items. No where in their writings does it say it is the end. It is just a "New Era" like the Chinese calendar (Year of the snake, rat, etc.) That is all it is.
