I disagree with the stab you in the back part, a true friend looks at you before he/she does it. It shows truth whether good or bad. A friend will tell you how it is, not what you want to hear. They should have your back, but also not be there when a situation requires you to do it yourself. And as I stated before, a true friend will be upfront and truthful, instead talk behind your back.

I wouldn't have a clue. Sometimes it's just certain things in people that makes me want to be around them, but at the end of the day I don't really know if I could trust them to "be there for me" in any capacity... Anyway, I suck at keeping friends and being a good friend so I just don't know.

Yeah, I agree with this. I also think the person above you was right, at least for "best" friends.

if i was stranded downtown or somewhere unfamilar to me at 1:00 in the morning, a true friend is someone i can call up and they will wake up and come get me. Basically you know they will have your back and you can tell them anything. I think we all have "people we know" but very few true friends.

I don't want somebody who supports and encourages me in everything I do, only when they believe what I'm doing is right. That sentence came out wierd and a bit incoherent, but I'm a little out of it...so whatever.

A friend is someone there for you night and day. A friend is someone you treat NO differently then a family member. A friend is someone that listens. A friend is someone you cry over when they have to leave for long periods of time,you hug,and DONT feel homo about it..A true friend is someone that is a part of your very soul...You feel ONE with this person.

I had a BEST FRIEND from about 1987 "9th grade"...until about in 2007...he kind of went on his own way and we've not hung out or been "talkative" much since at all....AND we hung out at least 1-2 days a week since meeting..Even with me being married..Things change in life that we can control..I miss having a Best Friend pretty bad.
