Well where I'm from, you can get financial aid for college which gives you a ton of surplus to spend on whatever.

Im leave for University next month and the British goverment is giving me £3,180 towards my living costs, A £1,750 grant for being dyslexic for computer equipment, books etc. and a loan of £3,559 intrest free, and the pay my fee's of around £1,820. And I'm not exactly poor to begin with so It's not as expensive as the education in America. Thats why America has such low social mobility, due to obscene cost of health, Education etc.

Of coarse the University's in the Uk are heavily subsidised by the Goverment...... The horror's of socialism *Cougth sarcasim*.

Well its called an insentive by the government to create aninteligent work force, this stuff has been going on for over 100 years. I mean you dont pay to go to school do you, and in the UK if your household income is lower than £30,000 then you get paid to go to high school.

People voted in Republicans.... From an outside prospective everyone in Europe wonders how on earth they actually win elections.

If they ran in any European country they would lose horribly. Even the democrats arn't Liberal enougth for most European countries.

True, an average american democrat would be too republican in the netherlands. hardcore liberals in america = liberal in these european countries. but its too bad, most people in america are republican

Because it's also the land of stolen Subaru's and over-priced tertiary education. And it is a country with 4 attractive females, 3 of whom I've dated and the other of whom is a lesbian.

If I can? I suggest putting less effort growing a beard and more into either learning geography or learning to troll... @Wolls - I'd agree if I didn't have such an atrocious hit to miss ratio...

most are run by the state there, taxes, keep the costs alot lowwer than here( you can find cheap colleges here, but you can find GREAT cheap colleges there)

I am actually considerring going to college in Germany for Engennieering. I forgoet which college. but it is a Great one, they give incentives, and its only 6,000 a year.

There are plenty of countries that do that in Europe I believe. I had a man from France stay with my neighbor for a little. He had a degree in something to do with engineering for AirBus but to my surprise his salary was ridiculously low (to me for that profession) and it was because something had been worked out that because France paid for his schooling his salary was significantly lower than what he would've made if school wasn't paid for.

The practice might be dead now (he was in his 30s) but there is always a trade off, especially with government policies.
