I doubt many people here are clinical depressed... I get the blues from time to time, but they pass with... time. Entertaining myself just cloaks the sadness.do you suffer from depression? if so, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

It's weird sometimes I go a couple weeks really depressed for no reason, only focusing on the bad things happening to me and then sometimes I go a few weeks really happy and in a good mood not thinking about bad things. I wouldn't really consider myself a depressed person though.xTheExploitedthis

It's all about brain chemistry...maybe diet has something to do with it.
Not really. I've never been diagnosed with it, but every once in awhile, I have a complete breakdown and completely lose it. But besides that, I'm a rather happy person. :)

Could be dysthymia or Bipolar II.
Generally a combination of excercise, psychotherapy, and anti-depressants works for depression.
You may have to try several anti-depressants before finding one that works, as there are different classes (eg SNRIs, SSRIs, wellbutrin which is dopaminergic), and even within classes people may have success with one and not another. For young people like ourselves, I've found that Paxil usually works pretty well.
Bipolar disorder requires a different set of medications. In fact, anti-depressants can cause mania in those bipolar disorder.
Doctors want you to be depressed so they can over medicate you. Some people are really depressed, but most are just misinformed and have bad life habits.
If you went to a doctor, said you were depressed and he said. "Well start excercising, get outside more often get at least 20 minutes of direct sunlight a day, get a hobby that makes you feel good, socialize more and eat healthy foods." Instead the doctor says. "Your lifestyle is perfect, you can live however you want, eat whatever you want and you are entitled to feel good, here take these pills..." Which is a LIE.
You cannot live any lifestyle you want and still be chemically balanced, humans need certain things for our brains to function properly and they are NOT anti-depressants, we invented those just recently to balance against our AWFUL habits that are killing us.
Proper diet, excercise, and mentally challenging your self with books, games and social interaction will fix 95% of all depression cases. But that takes discipline and hard work. Instead our instant gratification sociey has invented feel good pills to fake it for you.
Seriously, there are REAL cases of depression that these medications can help but the vast majority are due to bad habits that we are responsible for ourselves.
I have been through all of this myself, and this comes from my personal experience with life and depression, take it as you will. Since i have been follwing the simple rules of Exercise daily, get sunlight daily, get productive hobbies and socialize more often i have not been depressed one single time. Before this i was depressed constantly, even with medication.
I would say yes. I'm not sure what clinical terms would apply to myself but I often have a hard time with life in general. I go up and down, the frequency of change and the length of phases (ok, or depressed) is random.
As for how I deal with it, well, it's an ongoing process. The older I get the better I am at dealing with myself. Thinking about what's bothering me and (if possible) dealing with things/people that are causing me problems. Also the ability to see when I'm being stupid and let things go helps. Above all else I have a wonderful wife whom I can talk to about literally anything and everything.
So, for my recommendations about making yourself feel better. Don't just ignore your problem(s), most of them won't go away. Drinking, drugs, sex, or burying yourself in entertainment media won't help long term. Try to figure out what your problem(s) are and deal with them as best you can. More then anything, try to establish a friendship good enough that you can talk about yourself freely since sometimes just talking about what is bothering you makes a world of difference.
