I have never worn designer clothing in my life. I could care less about brand name, but in terms of comfort, is it worth it?

Some of it is just made better.

For instance, a generic brand jacket will not replace my north face, atleast in my opinion.

What peeviness said.

Lets take Seven Jeans compared to Levi's. I wear both. I notice the Levi's are nice, but the Sevens fit better and feel better.

Now shirts. I wear both "expensive" t-shirts and shirts from Pac Sun. The graphic designer tees design's are put on differently, so they don't fade or break up.

I love both cheaper clothes and designer clothes, but in a lot of way, you really do get what you pay for.

to an extenet "designer" clothing can be worth it. In terms of keeping me warm/dry my trespass pants, helly hansen coat and timberland boots take some beating. And I highly doubt a cheaper combo of generic brand stuff could compare to them.

that being said my G-star raw jeans are hateful. They do look really nice but they arent the most comfortable pair of jeans ive ever had (especially with all teh studs in teh back) so it feels liek im sitting on a bed of nials on a hard bench etc. Also all those studs have the added bonus of scratching stuff I sit on.

Lol, yes I am wearing pants. I'm wearing jeans by some no-name brand. I think it cost 15-20 dollars.

You could have the same argument about cars; whether it's worth it to buy a nice BMW when you could have a cheap Hyundai that does the same job. Both with this and clothing, you honestly do get what you pay for, and it's not just "paying for the name."

It all depends on personal taste. I used to wear no-name pants, shoes, and shirts.

Now I wear stuff from American Eagle and stuff. I find that they keep their color longer for some reason. I wear the stuff that doesn't have A&F plasterd in huge font across it, I wear dull, muted tones and such, nothing flamboyant.

Yeah, you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to jeans. I basically refuse to pay anything less than fifty bucks on a pair of jeans, and even that's stretching it. Like the apc's i'm wearing right now have a great fit that you'll never get with fifteen or twenty dollar no name jeans.

I only have one designer shirt (if you don't count stuff like south pole, dickies, etc). it's not the most comfortable but damn, I don't think that things going to rip in years. It's also waterproof for some reason, even though i'm not supposed to wear it in the rain.

Hmmm...interesting. First of all, this is all quite contrary to what a teacher of mine said about how designer clothes are the same quality as non-designer as they're both made in the same factories. Second of all, I find it interesting that designer clothing is meant to last, and yet the people who wear the most designer clothing are the ones buying new clothing and disposing the old at a rapid pace.

Anyway, thanks for all the insight. Maybe I'll try designer clothing sometime.

As others already said, it's generally better. But also think of it like this. Would you take better care of a pair of pants that cost you $15, or $75?

From my experience, expensive pants/shorts last longer than cheap ones. Same with jackets and some polos. When it comes to t-shirts I can't justify paying extra money for a designer brand.

You just figured this out? I saw a designer jacket that cost 200$, I felt like smacking whoever bought that jacket in the face and saying no!

designer clothing fits better, looks better and lasts longer.

my Miss Sixty jeans last me years, while my non-brand name jeans last only a few months.

I don't wear designer clothing, I just wear cargo pants and corduroys and metal shirts. I prefer to keep it simple and cheap.

I wear name brand stuff. Most of my stuff is from American Eagle, it's not too expensive, but it looks nice and I think it's comfortable. That's enough for me to wear their clothing.

You pay for what you get. Designer clothing fits better, feels better, usually looks better and will last longer.

To those who say they buy designer stuff for the quality and not the name:

Would you honestly buy them if there was no logo or any indication of the designer brand on the clothing such that no one would know if you're wearing $500 jeans?

I wouldn't pay $500 for a pair of jeans. No normal person pays $500 for a pair of jeans.

But yes, I would spend that little bit extra even if there was no indication of it being a designer brand. For the reasons I listed in my other post.

As long as it still fit good and looked good, I would still pay extra for it.

When I buy designer clother I purposely look for ones without their logo flashing everywhere. Just because it's designer doesn't mean a logo has to be visible. Most men's clothing doesn't have a big logo on it anyway.

Aside from that $500 jeans aren't really common in most areas. I'd pay up to about $150 for a pair of jeans or nice pants and probably upwards of $200 for a shirt if I liked it enough.. Just the way it is.

What do you guys consider to be "designer" clothing? I hardly consider Gap, Nike, North Face, etc to be "designer". I'm talking about the really expensive stuff like Versace, Gucci, and LV. Things that cost like at least several hundred dollars just for something simple like a shirt. Would you pay extra for something like that, minus a visible brand/logo?

It depends. Good designer clothing is much better then generic clothing. Both in terms of style and quality. However, with that said...

1. Some designers are much better then others. Price = rarity = quality = usually

2. Many designers sell their crappy mistakes, for cheaper (but still expensive), to noobs who just look at the brand name
