I know there are many fantasy books (especially ones involving vampires and warewolves) but are there any fantasy detecitve novels with female protagonists?

yea, there's a series called anita blake or something, I see it at borders all the time and one of my teachers read it.

She said it's about vampires and mythical creatures.

Your sis is not a 23 year old dude with a beard longer than his hair. Nancy Drew I believe is for young readers though I might be wrong.
