wat dictates country development is the role in which the superpowers assign them. for example Post-WW2 Japan was to be rebuild bu the US because they want Japan to suply the US with high quality goods.
in Latin America, however, they decided to keep them as poor as possible because they need cheap labour for them to exploit.
some countries is more developed than others because of the above reason
Base it off of this:
Countries have enough resources on their land to support everyone on that land. People become poor due to the fact that they are too stupid to know how to develop their country and their land.
To give you proof, I present the United States. We actually DONT have people dying from starvation, now do we?
We use China as a cheap labor resource because their Government is so **** up. Right now, any country with a stupid populace is very likely to use and abuse them.

1. Japan is cool
2. Japanese are smarter
3.They look better also
That's obviously racist, but that aside, the Japanese just for some reason dived headlong into helping their country succeed economically at that time; they just worked really goddamn hard and were really complacent.Know why America has such a good economy? We have tremendous natural resources. That's it. The 'Puritan work ethic' is mostly just not there. We have a lot of valuable stuff on our land. That's all there is to it really.Base it off of this:

Must be why in WWI and WWII we got our asses in gear and were manufacturing war materials and supples like crazy, when no one thought we could, eh?
Don't kid yourself. Any country with that potential would do it. All the raw materials to set up those factories and to have them produce were there, as well as a lot of poor people willing to work the factories. Any country would've done that. America still has the best economy in the world (sort of...depends on perspective and opinion in part....but anyway) not at all because of our work ethic. Look at the Japanese. Know why they aren't beating us at the money game and never will? They don't have anything to sell, basically. Now our economy is largly kept afloat by the dollar itself, which goes back to WWII. But one way or another, our economy is not strong because of how we work.Must be why in WWI and WWII we got our asses in gear and were manufacturing war materials and supples like crazy, when no one thought we could, eh?

Really? Yes, the abundance of natural resources helps a lot, but it's on part of it. America is one of the hardest working nations in the world. Do you think France would be successful right now if it had all of the natural resources of that the US has? 4 day work weeks, what a joke.

And yet somehow the EU (and most of the EU is socialist...all of it...) manages to keep up with us and even make their currency more valuable than ours, as well as having a generally pretty good GDP.My advice for your paper, ignore all the crap from this thread. If you want an interesting perspective on why some countries develop the way they do, read the book, "Guns, Germs, and Steel". It's a theory, but it helps to give some insight into potential reasons why some countries and societies are advanced and others are not.sonicare
I was thinking the same thing :P I love how these topics get soo outa hand and off topic.
