Oh no, oh no no no, oh HELL no!
I'm not going to be dragged into another inane Iraq war debate in which people who know nothing scream about things they don't understand and yet feel the need to be opinionated about it.
Count me the hell out!
Technically, we succeeded in disestablishing the regime of Hussien. Now we're in the same position that the U.S. was in after its Civil War; Reconstruction. Different place, different names, different reasons..same massacres.
Problems need to be solved on many levels. Once that's done, high-ho silva.
We set up a democratic government in a country ruled by a dictator for decades. How did we lose again?G4mbl3
We've set up an extremely corrupt, unstable government that would fall in a week without our support.
The United States of America is still very much at war and in a state of war...nothing is over. Iraq has turned into a magnet ..if you will ..attracting people that hate America and what it stands for...insurgents cross into iraq illegally (from other hostile countries) just in the hopes of killing an American. If we were to leave it would be more of a bloodbath than it already is.
I support our troops and my Gov. 100%! I do not think we have lost anything but if we leave Iraq unfinished it will be the beginning of the end.
The actual war itself is over and was successful...however, since the country had no leadership and was unstable we couldn't leave. Currently it's being invaded by insurgents that are fighting...but that is not the actual war.LJS9502_basic
The actual war cannot be divorced from this 'non-actual' war you are talking about. Our objective was to set up a stable, democratic regime in Iraq to replace the Baath Party. The regime we have in place is nowhere near stable, so we are fighting to stabilize the country. Our current operations in Iraq fall under "Phase IV Operations"-Aid and reconstruction, which was part of the WAR PLAN. The military leadership anticipated that this would take very little time to accomplish, but we all know what happened with that and the rest is history.

It's turning into what Afghanistan was to the Russians.Â
So? By our standards, three thousand dead is a lot. It should be a lot to you. One should be terrible.B. Millions lost their lives in WWII, by comparison I dont think that would count as a loss.
