Lately, I have just kept thinking to myself: "How did I get here?". Not because where I am at is a bad place or anything, it is just something I had never imagined would ever happen. In University my 2 best friends are people I would never have thought I would be spending most my time with. In grade school the one guy was the popular type where I was kind of middleclass and we weren't friends at all. My other friend was a popular girl in grade school and I guess was nice to me but we were never friend's either. I just feel that if someone told me 2 years ago that I would be in this position, I wouldn't have really believed them. It is a strange feeling. Makes me think that my future doesn't depend on my past. I dunno. Just a thought really.

I thought this was did you ever take a picture in the position you're sitting in.And no, I haven't.

As for the actual question, yes I did. I pictured at least something close to it.

Well, I thought I would be finished with my degree by now and have some kind of job at least. Other than that, nope I pretty much thought I would probably be still living with my parents.

No, I thought I would be farther along in my college career, have outgoing friends and have a girlfriend. But I;m actually behind in my college career, friends are lazy and I've been single my entire life

I thought I'd be worse off, but I'm doing okay. I lost weight, my braces are coming off soon, I look way better, I hang out with friends more now, I have a job.

6 years ago I didn't care about anything, I loathed myself, I had no goals; I was basically just watching life go by, going wherever the flow took me while I waited for death to come take me.

If anyone would have told me that six years later I would be in a 6-year relationship with a girl so amazing that she basically made me appreciate life again, that I would be happy, at peace with myself (still needs work, but I'm getting there), working hard towards a major in music composition, and that I would not want to die any time soon because I want to make the most out of this while I'm here, I honestly wouldn't have believed them.

It's good to be alive. :)

Not exactly. I didn't see myself on this precise career path, though it's close to what I anticipated. I didn't see myself living where I am, though. It's a long way from anyone I know.

Sort of expected... In uni, working next to my studies and prices for apartments are way out of reach so I'm staying home.

Not really, but I think I am getting close to where I do want to me. The problem with me is that I'm often changing my mind about many aspects in my life, apart from the career which has not yet kicked off! Getting there though =)

School, college, university, job. That was the plan. Then of course the recession hit, and there isn't much demand for inexperienced graduates. The recession was a wake up call, because it got me looking into things I never thought about prior.

So no, I didn't see myself in this position. It's bad, I'd much rather be in work, but I've learned some things as a result. Paradigm shifting things that will likely impact how I handle my future finances as a result.

Assuming of course the world economy actually recovers, and just doesn't collapse into the greatest depression.

I keep on forgetting that the USA has still been having a recession. In Canada there is probably a surplus of jobs. Have you ever thought of relocating?

I'm from the UK just for the record, and there are so many unemployed graduates here; they are calling it the lost generation.

I wouldn't really consider moving. That's a significant response to a economic downturn, it's really reserved for a totally trashed economy where there are no future prospects.

I have a good career built upon my hard work in college = good

31, divorced with a house that is underwater = bad.
