I just watched it last night. Pretty stupid movie over all, especially when they tried to explain the origins of the race. They tried to say that there was human DNA and at one point the species crossbred with humans, but if you remember in Predator 2 when Danny Glover entered the alien ship and went inside the trophy room, there was all sorts of skulls on display, including a t-rex skull. So, predators were already hunting on earth LONG before they encountered humans.

I liked the action, but there were just too many things about the movie itself that was stupid.

I thought it was fun, entertaining, and over the top.

Yeah the comedy was something I could have done without, sure. Predator movies are action first, sci-fi-horror second...with some funny moments here and there, but not much.

It was recut a bunch of times due to behind the scenes politics. The original ending was suppose to have Arnold Schwarzenegger well.

Arnold never signed on to do it--they asked and he straight up said no.

They left some interesting things for the sequel, but after the box office take, I don't see a follow-up happening. The movie itself was...well, it's just there. Not the biggest crime to happen in cinema, but by no means good.

Yea, the original idea was suppose to be Dutch showing up.

Instead [of the Predator Killer scene], McKenna, his son, Rory (played by Jacob Tremblay) and Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) have all just survived the final attack of the Super Predator (referred to as “The Upgrade” in the script) when a helicopter lands. Out climbs…Dutch Schaeffer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), his “face haunted; etched by pain.” Dutch tells the trio to come with him, and when Rory asks, “Uh…me, too?”, the franchise’s second-most iconic badass smiles and says “Especially you.”

To be honest, the ending they went with is probably better. Dutch was just "some guy", shoe-horning him in, purely because it's Schwarzenegger would probably be eye-rolling than some amazing hook.

@JustPlainLucas: haven’t seen it yet but it has been on my “watch list” for a while. I will probably watch in the next couple of days, so long as it has some good action and explosions I’m good lol :)

Any Predator movie without Arnie taking the lead has been pretty bad. Predators almosy was good but still not quite.

@uninspiredcup: I haven't seen The Predator yet, but is that supposed to have been as if Dutch was like, some member of an anti-Predator task force or something? I don't have the necessary context for the deleted scene since I didn't see the movie, but that's kind of what it looks like from your description. Anyway, I guess something like that could work. I mean, Ellen Ripley was just "some woman". Then in the very next movie she's selected to go on an Alien-fighting mission, ends up ordering the marines around when she's just a consultant, and single handedly slaughters a bunch of Aliens with grenades and machine guns while having practically zero training. So I guess the concept could work. But it's kind of hard to sell that kind of thing without some character development. Ripley had it, Dutch didn't.

Anyway, I suppose I'll get around to watching the movie eventually. Just because it's a Predator movie. Same as how I eventually watch all of the Alien movies even though I know they'll probably suck.

But what the hell is the deal with new super Predators and mixing DNA and stuff? Same thing with the Aliens (to some extent). There's always some rush to make a new monster like a Queen Alien or an ugly-ass Human/Alien (which I've always personally thought looked more like a naked mole rat) or a Predalien or a Black Super-predator or those sickly looking white Aliens from Alien Covenant. Am I the only one who feels like that kind of seems like a holdover from the days when Kenner had a freaking Aliens toy series with Snake Aliens and Gorilla Aliens? Or how Tony Stark gets a new suit in every Marvel Movie. But at least that makes sense with Marvel Movies. That stuff exists to drive sales of kids toys, like giving Malibu Stacy a new hat. But why the hell do they need to do this in freaking Alien and Predator movies? That kind of stuff may have driven action figures back in the day, but those were the days when freaking Robocop could get a goddamn Saturday morning cartoon. Those days are over.

I can still at least kind of see why the Alien movies do this. I mean, the Aliens are dumb-ass animals so I guess it makes some sense to at least introduce new Aliens for the purpose of trying to hide the fact that they're just re-doing the exact same thing as previous movies. But Predator? Does the Predator franchise really need to resort to that thing? The concept was built as a race of super-advanced aliens that travels across the galaxy killing things for sport. They're intelligent. There are lots of time periods to play with. There are lots of hypothetical tactics that they may have to adopt in order to defeat their prey. I mean, the concept of this franchise seems perfectly made to be perfectly sustainable without screwing with the actual Predators. Predators vs Roman legions? Predators in WWIII? Predators trying to stay hidden in a time where security cameras are prevalent everywhere? How do their tactics vary when they're hunting a few guys in a dense jungle as opposed to trying to get the head of a general who is leading a 10,000 strong army? Isn't the concept FAR more versatile than the concept of the Aliens? Why the need to keep going with "new more badass Predators" instead of actually taking advantage of the idea of keeping the Predators the same and having the setting change? Just seems like a bit of wasted opportunity to me.

Probably be reminiscent of Alien: Resurrection, where even though Ripley stories is done and dusted, she's associated with the xenomorphs and therefore becomes the central point of the moviie with some ridiculous personal relationship. I can just imagine it now, a bunch of Predators adorning a 70 year old Arnold with a trophy lol

I have to say, I quite like Predator 2. Changing it from a literal jungle to an urban jungle, with a cop figure instead of soldier, was good move. Some shit makes absolutely 0 sense, like when Danny Glover is fighting the predator and they conveniently land on it's ship down an elevator, but it's not really movie killing. The final fight sequence on-board the ship is somewhat lame as well.

But it has alot of cool stuff, like when it walks through the puddle, and the entire train sequence where it inspects the woman and leaves her because she's pregnant, really nice touch.

It kind of lacks the bro-bro relationships of the first one.

It was decent. Dumb fun, basically. Not a great movie but it had a decent cast of fun characters and unlike many other films in the genre it didn't make the mistake of killing off the most interesting ones early. There were certainly plot issues but overall I enjoyed it.

Felt like one of those movies studios push out just so they don't have to give up the license.

I remember seeing the trailer for it long ago, and I saw what looked like comedy in it. That turned me off. I have the original Predator on DVD, and its a good movie.

My mom's cousin saw the 2018 movie and said that movie sucked.
