I must admit that being 12 years of age, listening to christian news and being bitter about 9/11 made me happy that the U.S invaded Iraq.

9 years later and I have to say... I must have been really stupid back then. And yet, I'm wondering if anyone else regrets supporting the war?

If it wasn't for the war, democracy would not be spreading throughout the region. Just look at the Arab Spring. History will remember Bush favorably for this.

Something inaccurate with what I said? Let's examine the facts:

  • Iraq is now democratic
  • Afghanistan is now democratic
  • Egypt has Arab Spring
  • Iran has massive anti-government protests

Pretty good for 11 years.

The only way the Iraq War could have had any force in speeding up democratization in the region was with people getting more angry. There's no connection between Saddam leaving the scene and Tunisians demanding cheaper food. Anyways, most of the demented blokes who support the Iraq war are the same people who are scared of democracy in the Arab world since they think the Muslim Brotherhood is taking over (which it almost is).

I think we could eradicate the Brotherhood if we systematically target Syria, Yemen, and Libya. We've already planted the seeds in Egypt/Iran/Saudi Arabia/Iraq/Afghan. In addition to being revered as the region's liberators, I wouldn't mind benefitting from cheaper gas prices as payment for our investment in the region.

How? I'm pretty much in support of targeting countries known to harbor terrorists (Syria, Yemen, Libya). If we democratize them (which any sane person would be in support of) then part of the benefit would be: (1) America is viewed favorably, and (2) we benefit economically in terms of cheaper gas prices.

....Libya is already democratized. And any terrorists in Syria (aside from the government) would be on your side in the war. And you would not benefit considerably from cheaper gas prices. Oil companies would reap the rewards and sell the oil at around the same price. And Yemen's government is technically an ally in the fight against Al qaeda in Yemen, which America helped to become more powerful and more legitimate with all the civilians killed in drone strikes.

I was 10 years old in 2003. I was much more concerned with Transformers and Lego than I was invading Iraq. In retrospect, I don't think the war was a good idea.

I was also 12 in 2003. I didn't really pay much attention to politics/world affairs, but damn did I hear the words "terrorism", "weapons of mass-destruction" and "hussein" all over the place. Among many others.

"i never support imperialist" What? Hire an English tutor. Anyway, this was a real war. You seem to be very confused.

Why are you being a huge anus?

WMD's were not even real and bush him self was heard saying to the french president saying " we will go in even if we don't find anything"

Was too young to really form an opinion. Looking back on it now I think it's ridiculous how the Bush administration took advantage of a scared and bitter nation... even in this thread people are still connecting 9/11 and Iraq. Dafuq Iraq war should never have happened

While most of you were watching Bush's 48 hour ultimatum on TV I was in Kuwait about 10 miles from the Iraqi border wearing a chemical suit and locked and loaded. Can't say I was in the best mood at the moment. But regardless of how I felt back then I knew that Bush wasn't the one who ordered the invasion alone and it took approval of Congress for it to happen. Also, I knew that while WMDs were the reason plastered all over TV a huge reason we went in was because of over a dozen UN-mandated resolutions put on Iraq as a condition of their surrender in 1991 after the Gulf War that Saddam Hussein violated.
