It's officially over, and it was very touching and had a lot of moving speeches and performances.

No its not dumb its a tribute ... did you think the Concert for Diane 2 years ago was dumb too???
One of the hosts was just talking about what people thought about him at one time.
"...only 5 % of people had a positive opinion of him - lower than O. J. Simpson, lower than Saddam Hussein."
Who are these over 5% of Americans that had a positive opinion of Saddam Hussein?

I didn't pay much attention then either. I'd rather have a solemn funeral with my closest friends, and be laid to rest respectfully and quietly. All this Hype isn't needed sure he's dead but people die. It happens. Is Michael Jackson's death really a "world wide" event? On CNN and other media here in the US they keep saying it's a "world wide" event. I don't see ANYTHING about him on the front of the BBC website nor any other main news outlet for other countries. I am not trying to bash Michael Jackson at all personally or anything, I am just wondering are people "really" watching world wide. CNN is pretty much making it sound bigger than the election coverage.. I know BBC was covering it but even with that I have no idea just how much the rest of the world really cared. Are any of you outside of the US & UK.. Like maybe Aussies, Japanese, Indian or Chinese? How has your country been covering about the Michael Jackson news?Reach01
Yes its worldwide ... theres said to be 1 BILLION people watching from around the world.

How would they know that?Hey Americans! They are discussing the biggest tax bill in our history while you guys watch the MJ funeral.... just saying....... they passed the bill in the house the day after he died.... no one notice....
o and screw that child molester
bsman00
please. Like American really care about tax bills, or economic data beyond jobs, inflation or expanding government.
The only thing Americans care about are social issues like gay marriage, prayer in schools and affirmative action.
I hope the MJ funeral does get high viewership ratings, that way the world can say the Americans are finally admittng to what they are

It's worldwide apparently so there blows that theory. Second, Americans do care about those things. :roll:I could be watching the important things going on in the world. Things effecting our economu, the situation with NK, anything else. But instead, all that the news is showing is this michael jackson crap. The even closed down an freeway because of it. Ridiculous.
WeedleLad
because those important issues really shouldnt be given much thought by most maericans. Americans are economic ideologues, so numbers and data wont change anything and Americans cant do anything with Nkorea beyond tough talk and sanctions, most of the power lies with the russians and china.
sure am!! Lionel Richie is on there... *_*
oh, and to all the haters, he was aquitted of all those molestation charges, so quit trying to bring about double jeopardy... that one kid even admitted to lying about it b/c his father wanted money - you silly little ignorant haters ;)

It seems he was important to a lot of ppls around the world. Even the pointless Saint-Pierre and Miquelon channel is broadcasting it (linky if you don't know where it is)
Extremely boring show btw lol, but there is only that on tv...

It's worldwide apparently so there blows that theory. Second, Americans do care about those things. :roll:Really? Then why are people so supportive of Obama, when he his nearly the same as GWB. For all this talk about how bad Bush was and Obama is going to bring change, the policies of the two are surprisingly similar. They key differences fall along social lines really and healthcare.
So looking at Obama's approval numbers, I'm going to say Americans dont care.
