I am not prone to motion sickness, but this movie was the shakiest thing I've seen since The Blair Witch Project.

Strangely, my friends that I went with acknowledged it when I asked, but they say it didn't bother them. I didn't notice anyone in the theatre that looked immediately sick when we were leaving. I had to look away or close my eyes every few minutes, because the camera movements were so jerky that it made me feel sick. It was so bad that I am wondering if maybe something was wrong with the movie projector used at the screening I saw, because even the title and credits were shakey (but none of the previews or anything beforehand.) I could understand using the shakey effect during the interviews with people for a "home made" feeling, but for the entire movie? Anyway I'm just wondering if anybody else who has seen this movie felt sick afterwards. Now I am thinking maybe something is wrong with ME and I will get the same awful feeling after I go to see Inglourious Basterds next week.

I was fine with it...then again, I was fine watching Cloverfield as well. Both were incredible movies, especially District 9.

I never really noticed, but that's just me. Not saying that you're wrong and it wasn't shakey, I'm just saying that it wasn't shakey enough for me to really have any issues with it.

In any case, I think that Cloverfield still holds the record as the worst "shakey cam" movie ever released.

The movie was fine for you but it was very shakey. It wasnt a problem for me but I can see why some people wouldnt like it or become sick from watching it.

Did the Bourne Ultimatum make you feel sick? Maybe you're prone to motion sickness?

My friend brought up Cloverfield as being much worse, but I haven't seen it so I can't really give a % worse than District 9 for shakiness. I also have a feeling that if I watched this on DVD I would probably be fine, but something about being on the big screen in the dark made it really bad.

This is the first time any movie has made me feel weird and off-balance... my head/vision still feels kind of messed up even this morning still. I saw G-Force a week ago (not by choice, Funny People was sold out) and had no bad reaction... I'd say parts of that have quite a bit of high-speed movement like car chases and stuff. Parts of District 9 I was fine, mostly views from the helicopters... I think maybe the shakiness was needed to make the CGI more realistic or something? I dunno.

Honestly if you're still messed up this morning you may want to get that checked out. I don't think you'd still feel bad the next day, then again I'm not prone to motion sickness at all unless I read in a car. Other than that, no movie has ever bothered me.

One of the (many) reasons I've avoided District 9 is that whole shaky-cam thing...it's quite odd to me, that a film with a huge budget (unlike BWP) would choose such an amateurish style of filming, just to be "cool".

I love documentarys, I've rarely seen one with the camera shaking all over the place. It's a style of filming now, and not a good one.

I think I will have to start googling the names of movies I plan to see, along with "motion sickness"... seems like there is a pretty good indication that other people experienced the same thing, lots of comparisons between this movie and The Hurt Locker, Cloverfield, etc. in terms of the camera use.

After some thought, gore may play a small part in how I felt... about the same time I started getting motion sickness, I was also getting cold sweats that I thought was from a particularly graphic part of the movie when the main character is in the hospital. Then again at other parts I was actually laughing at how humans/aliens were getting blown up (pig scene), so I may just be mistaking motion sickness for traumatic stress.

I felt the shaky camera worked well at times but I couldn't help but feel out of it at times. Though I did like the use of blood splattering at the camera.

Wow, I didn't even think of District 9 as a "shaky-cam" movie. I barely noticed anything like shaky cam, as the documentary aspect was far less pronounced during the second half.

But who knows, I don't get motion sickness. Hell, Cloverfield is one of my favorite movies.

My friend complained about being sick a few times, but not all the time. She gets motion sickness over everything almost. It didn't bother me at all though.

Didn't bother me at all. Infact, it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time.

And speaking of movies with motion sickness, Cloverfield anyone?

No, its to bring more of documentary experience... And the budget was hardly big. 30million to be exact.
