I love America, but sometimes I don't like all the praise the country gets for being the best of whatever.
Weird, huh?

I hate this place. History lessons are taught in a racist manner to make everything seem like white is right but the reality is that, internemnt camps served no purpose but to oprress asians(i can assure not everyone was japanese). Slavery lasted hudreds of years. By celebrating columbes and thanksgiving, you are celebrating the savage salying of a whole entire race. Chirstopher columbus was the devil, when he first swa the natives who treated him with hospitality, he wanted to enslave them. They sent boats of jews back to germany during WWII. and they would do any of these things again, and again.downPlayDemon
don't judge the entire country based on how one person teaches it.
LIfe here is good no doubt about it, but I often think about the rights that are taken from us every day. The ammount of pollution we pump into the envronment compared to other nations is insane too. For some reason we love drving cars bigger than most Eastern European homes...tequilasunriser
well, at least some people are working on getting rid of the polution problem. i don't know of any basic rights that are being taken away, though.

Just to make slavery seem as less of an issue they said the blacks enslaved themselves in africa. first of all they were enslaved only for a while until they could repay debts. second of all nobodyies fingers where chopped off. third they were allowed to learn

hmm, they did enslave each other in Africa, but that didn't give us the right to enslave them. at least the matter has finally been settled. strage, my teachers were nothing like that, we covered slavery for a long time. My teacher is pretty smart, and I'm glad I haven't gotten teachers like yours.

The right to bear arms is tampered with constantly. Arguably for good reasons, but I am upset that any right is being tampered with regardless of what that particular right is.

yes they did, as i said in my post, but slavery was done until debts were paid off, and was less brutal, nobody disclocated their slaves body parts. Ive been to 5 different schools since i started learning history. Only one teacher told the full truth, he was actually my American Diversity teacher. American diversity is a class where you learn about different races in america. but of course we touched up on their histiries. he tought us how all races have been confined to what they are and how it affects them. Mr. N = greatet history teacher ever.

you might as well burn the whole bill of rights and i dont think it would make a noticeable difference. Right to pursuit of happines pffff. Right to freedom of speech? what happended to the Dixie Chicks when they spoke their mind.
not to mention the poem under the statue of liberty is a lie.

there is also illegal phone tapping, the people in guantanamo(sp?) just sitting there, alot of which dont deserve to be there. The right to free speach is constantly being threatened. Freedom of the press is dieing as were it counts.[QUOTE="tequilasunriser"][QUOTE="jackelhunter"][QUOTE="tequilasunriser"]LIfe here is good no doubt about it, but I often think about the rights that are taken from us every day. It seems the Press like to use thier freedom to make the lives of celebs miserable. We seem to have gotten our priorities mixed up. Its almost like its all a big distraction to keep our minds off of the fact that WE the people are supposed to have the nations power... not our government who are only supposed to be our representatives.

I don't know why, but the picture in your signature really freaks me out. Who is that?
And to answer your question, yes I get tired of Americans claiming 'We are the strongest in the world.' What happened to modesty?
